First off, thankyou AG for picking me as a winner

I chose the same pad/product combo for both. Both machines had a 5 inch backing plate, and a orange pad. Both machines were used on speed 6
Menzerna SIP and FG was used also.

First look at the UDM
The body is a little bigger and the gray housing is bigger also then on the pc. Also the counter weight looks a little smaller.

It has a different sound then the pc while running. I had very little vibration when using it. And I had NO rattling from the front housing, like I did on the pc. It is a very smooth running machine.

Bad things
The cord is shorter then the pc's. I could not get the cord to hang over my shoulder. Since I have it pluged into my powercord reel, that sits on the ground. Like do with the pc.
And the on/off switch could be better. On the pc it is smaller and is sucken a little into the groves. So alot harder to turn it on by mistake. The UDM's is a bigger longer flat switch. So it is very easy to turn it on. Which happened to me about 4 times and flung polish all over the car. The speed control turns the oposite direction, goes upwards. And the numbers were black, not white like the pc.
All in all I do like the UDM better then the pc, and look forward to using on a daily basis.

The left is was the PC and on the right was the UDM

You can see that the UDM side reduced the cobbwebbing alot more.

Tape removed you can see the difference in the two side

The hood needed some extra work, compared to the rest of the body

Looks like a great tool

Also looks like the Menzerna likes some more "bite" when applying
Could fast be a hit combo

Thanks for posting Ed

nice write up..what were your work in times?

Thanks for the comparo, Ed!! Looks like a "must have" for those (me) who don't feel comfortable moving up to a rotary.

Nice write-up Ed. I'm curious to see your time comparisons too. How much did the UDM cut off your time? The short cord is something I'll have to get used to. I have the PCHD with the longer cord. I'm flexible.

It was faster, not sure how much. Since I was stopped about 3-4 times to answer questions, and hand out business cards. At least 30min faster I'd say. Would need a whole detail to be for sure.

Thanks for the side X side Ed. There truly is a difference there, the proof is in the pics! Nice Vette!! Still dreaming of my first vette detail.........

We are looking at about a week and a half at this point... but the members here will be the first to know.

Ed, how about a little more thought on the machine itself. Is the power adequate ?? Easy to handle ?? Weight ?? Quality ?? If you were in a pinch, which would you grab for and be honest, is it a big enough leap for those owning PC's to consider it.

Is the UDM compatible with the current LC and Edge pads?

100% all you need is the edge adapter for those pads and the right backing plate for the ccs pads. I'm using the 5" BP and 6" CCS right now.

1. Yes there is more power to the new UDM. I'd say about 1 1/2 more speed to it then speed 6 on PC.
2. Is it easy to handle-- The body is a little larger around. My girlfriend said the UDM felt better in her small hands, then the PC
3. Weight-- it feels about the same. The UDM is a little heavier.
4. Quality-- 2 things need improving. One is on a longer power cord, and second the on/off switch needs to be redone. It turns on too easy:( Other then those issue's I do feel it is just a good a quality as the pc.
5. If I wanted to buy a PC, and the UDM came available. I would say buy the UDM.
If I had both the PC and the UDM, and could only take one with me. I'd take the UDM.
** Reason for my answer #5 **
It is a smoother running machine, it makes less noise. Alot less vibration(hands feel better). It has some more power then the PC.

Yes, they both are. I will be using the EDGE pad system on the UDM tomorrow. So I will post how they worked with the UDM. So far the LC CCS pads have worked fine on the UDM.

Ed did you notice the slower ramp down on UDM? Once you turn the machine off it has about a 2-3 second slow down time. It might be me, but I think the PC stops pretty quick. I don't see anything wrong with this, actually I like it because I can add polishes/products to the pad with even application while it's slowing down.. Please reply..

I did a count down on speed 6 to total stop.(1-2-3-4-5-6)etc. The PC took about 6 sec. to stop, and the UDM took 2 extra sec.
On the PC with LC pads I would apply polish on the pad while it was slowing down. On the EDGE pads, I would stop the pad to apply polish.
On the UDM with the LC pads I applyed polish after the pad stopped.
