Pearl Metallic White Paint ... Wax or Sealant?

Okay, I know wax works best for Colored/Dark/Black colored paint to make the colors rich and pop.
I'm a little confused for WHITE colored paint though... and it seems like I'm not the only one.

Some posts I'm reading says wax makes the "metallic" finish not glitter as much.
Others say it makes the white whiter.
Some say Wax makes it "glow" more.
Others say sealants make the white "shine" better like a mirror...

From everyone's experience... if you have Pearl White Metallic paint... do you want Wax or Sealant to make that paint shine?

I already plan on using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant as a base coat, but plan on putting a 2nd layer on top.
I already prepped the paint with wash+clay+polish... so minimal defects.

I'm also having a hard time finding good comparison photos of the two side by side.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sealant has been my choice after trying wax; the look seems more crisp & eye catching.

I have a white Charger right now, and I really like Megs M21 sealant on it.

Rupes 808, and Optimum Opti-Seal look great on it!

The Wolfgang will do everything you want. If you must top it just do a second coat.

Sealant - All that were mentioned are good. Also try Duragloss 111. With white paint it is important to keep all exterior black vinyl, rubber and tires dressed and clean.

I've only done one white car and it too was a white pearl. Like the others here who've already posted, I used a sealant and the results were blinding in bright sun. The car really stood out and almost had a newly fallen snow look to it.

Agree with custmsprty that the Polish Angel coatings are terrific on white. I have not used Viking Coat, but I have used Cosmic V2 and it is outstanding. Polish Angel products are expensive though, so if they would exceed your budget I'd take a look at Finish Kare 1000P synthetic paste sealant. FK1000P looks amazing on white and has great durability for a sealant. The self-cleaning and hydrophobic characteristics are also amazing. I have it currently on my white '92 Riviera (summer driver) and love how it looks.

If you decide to stick with the WGDGPS 3.0 that you already have, I would not top it with a wax but instead use the WGDG Spritz Sealant for periodic maintenance. Last summer I used the BlackFire "wet ice over fire" combo on my white '84 Riviera convertible, but I personally did not feel that the wax added anything extra to the gloss (on white). IMHO, coatings or synthetic sealants are the best way to go on white.

Now having said that, I have a '12 GMC Yukon Denali XL in "white diamond tri-coat" that I will be polishing with CarPro Essence and topping with Pinnacle Synergy. I used Synergy on my '84 white convertible this summer and it has never looked better. I've seen photos on this forum of other GM vehicles with the white diamond paint topped with Synergy and they look amazing. Synergy is very expensive (and perhaps not worth it - I know custmsprty thought it was junk), but I like it and it looks great on my white paint. If I did not have Synergy or Polish Angel in my arsenal and I was willing to pay top dollar for my products my advice would be to go with the Polish Angel products first. If price is a big part of the consideration, then FK1000P is super tough to beat on white paint... Good luck

I am a HUGE wax guy. That being said, I have worked on white and pearl white vehicles. IMO, sealant appears to be a better choice as I could really not tell the difference between the 2. With a black car you can. But again, that is my OPINION. If I work on a white car, I no longer use wax but a sealant.

But again, you can't go wrong either way if it is a quality wax or sealant.

I already plan on using Wolfgang Deep
Gloss Paint Sealant as a base coat,
but plan on putting a 2nd layer on top.
Since the base-coat has already
been determined...

•After the initial base-coat application:
-wait for the 12 hrs. recommended cure
time (in a moisture-free environment)
to expire; and then go ahead apply
another layer of the Wolfgang DGPS.

 Bling City!!

Polish Angel Viking Coat available at Autopia. best of both worlds, looks like a wax protects like a coating.

Paint was prepped with PA Esclate Lotion

Great looking pics custmsprty.
Does your car still have orange peel on it? can't tell
Yeah, Angel is way over my budget unfortunately.

As FUNX650 recommended, I might go with 2-layers of the sealant this year and see how I like it until next summer.

Anyone know of some really good Hybrid Waxes that work well on white paint and make the metallic flake pop?
(No Wolfgang Fuzion or other super high prices waxes... sorry... don't have that much dinero)

My Rogue paint is awesome, no orange peel at all.
MY GC had considerabl op, it's toned down some after a few polishes.

What these other guys posted, give this a try. Machine apply it if you have one, otherwise be sure to apply very very thin as if you put it on thick it can be a chore to remove. I speak from personal experience  Excellent longevity too.

Here's a few "Hybrids" that, IMO, reside
in a comparatively servile neighborhood:

3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax, 3m 39526, creates an ultra high gloss finish, with long-lasting protection!

Optimum Car Wax is a spray wax made with real carnauba and synthetic paint sealants for protection & shine! high-grade carnauba wax and silicone

Finish Kare 2685 Pink Wax, car wax, polymer carnauba wax, auto wax, finish care
