Does anybody have any experience with the above product? A local dealership has begun applying it to all of their cars before putting them on the lot. They say it as a 5 yr warranty and basically covers every surface on the car, interior and exterior. They are charging 400 for it if I remember correctly.

Its junk, i use to apply it for a dealership, just an extra way for then to make more .it last about a year Tops. Tough to apply to.

Both the Honda and Kia dealers I work at (same company) sell this stuff: ECP Incorporated. I think Honda charges $500 for it and Kia charges like $800 for it. Biggest bunch of BS I've ever seen. What's even sadder is that people allow themselves to be duped by the finance department into buying this crap.

Oooooo, "The Protector" system, noticed that advertising in dealerships. Salespeople make the sell to car buyers and add it to the cost of the loan or lease. Not nice!!

That's the thing, around here ey aren't getting the option, it's put on all of their cars before they hot the lot

Perma Plate, Xzilon and any other miracle product that claims to protect your paint/interior for up to 7 years is total BS. However, you're not buying the product as much as the warranty. Use a little common sense when making decisions on products such as these. Perma Plate replace two leather door panels on my 4 Runner which saved me close to $1200.00 that I would have had to spend if not for their warranty. $500.00 for up to a 7 year commitment sounds reasonable to me. One guy say Perma Plate is difficult to apply which is total BS. I watched the application and it's no more difficult than applying a quality sealer. It's bogus information like this that is going to cost someone money to repair paint or interior. Use your head and think about what you're buying. If you think there's a product anywhere that will protect your paint for 7 years then by all means buy it. No re-application is required however some dealers like to have the customer return for a re-application just to get them in the dealership and maybe sell them some service.

Optimum Polymer Technologies 'Coatings' come to mind...
And at a much, much lower price-point.

But, perhaps as far as you're concerned, this point is most likely moot.

Champ .... your post hits it out of the park. You nailed it. Some people that know it all stop at the "protect my paint for 7 years" and leave their common sense at home.

My contract clearly states
that if my paint/interior is damaged beyond repair they will replace material or paint the effected panel. Why is that so difficult for some people to understand?

Let me attempt to get through to you again. I'm not concerned with how long ANY product will protect my paint. Personally I enjoy cleaning my car and use a top shelf sealer. However, no product off the shelf will pay to have damage to your paint or interior repaired including repaint or replace interior materials. Perma Plate offers a warranty that provides this level of protection. Home insurance does nothing to protect your home but will pay for repairs if your home is damaged. I guess you consider insuring your home to be ignorant? Why do you not see the value in that? Do you just hate car dealers to the point that it forces you to make decisions against your own best interest? That's just plain dumb.

Im chiming in late however at this warantee bs for products have you read the disclamer. If you think you paying more is going to keep you covered im sure there companys lawyers will find some flaw to it all so they will not have to pay for your interior/paint.

As you stated you enjoy cleaning your car. Yada yada so why even speak of product coverage.
To your home owners insurance comment... insurance companys find loop holes all the time to not pay cliants... hurricane sandy ring a belll oh u dont have flood insurance but ur covered for wind... well its flood damage... oh u have flood and wind coverage... it was "hurricane damage"

If you enjoy cleaning your car... go clean your car...

Comparing insurance that covers damage to a painted surfaces with hurricane insurance demonstrates the thought process of someone who is clueless about the point being discussed. Why some people have to make a fool of themselves by commenting on issues they obviously know nothing about is a mystery.
