Ok, I'm going to be working on a black 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac in the next week and wanted to get some feedback on for a suggested plan of attack.

The paint has had some protection in the past, but never any correction. I know my first (and most lengthy) steps will be M105/M205. After that, I'm kinda up in the air. The question is, out of the products below, what combo will give the deepest, wettest look on the black paint along with a level of synthetic protection?
Klasse Twins (AIO & HGSG)
CG Blacklight
CG V7
Collinite 915
DG 101
Meg's 26
Meg's NXT 2.0 Paste

I'm willing to do as many layers and steps needed to achieve my goal. Just trying to avoid product redundancy and/or negation.

I would go with the CG combo Blacklight and V7

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong w/ any of the choices you listed. I haven't used any of them but I've noticed a lot of people talking about CG Blacklight and V7 so I guess that would be my first choices.

i'd pickup a tub of petes 53 and use blacklight under petes 53 and top it with v7 after every wash

The BL and V7 combo adds incredible depth and gloss to the paint.

If you want a bit more durability I would add in a seleant (Klasse HGSG) instead of a Carnaubu wax.

Do you think the Klasse & CG products will play well together?

I know Klasse is acrylic, but have no idea what CG is.

Another thought, I realize the main complaint with nuba is durability and longevity, but I really wanted to use it for the look.

I'm guessing that any sealant applied on top of nuba would not bond

Is there anything to top nuba that would bond enough to make it last longer?

What about a nuba/poly hybrid like WG Fusion or Colinite 845? I think you're going to have bonding issues (at least for the sake of longevity) whether it be a wax or sealant, and the only way to really avoid that (which is still up for debate) is staying within brand name chemical lines. I could be mistaken but I think that's the general consensus. I think Blacklight/V7 is a good route to go, I don't think Klasse AIO is a good choice given that you're going to be using M105/205. A good amount of people also go straight to LSP after 205 pending the paint condition and the proper combo.

Not a good idea to put sealants on top of wax in my experience. My LSP process is almost always Blacklight, WG Sealant, and one of the Dodo waxes. Consistent great results every time.

I think that if you are going to stay on top of your paint care then the durability of any product wont be an issue in your case. Even if you only wash the car once a month and give it a wipedown of V7 or whichever you desire, durability is no longer a factor untill you reach the 4-6 month mark. Then its time to do another light polish and wax application.

For outright looks put down two coats of BL, a coat of your favorite Nuba, and then do your wipe downs with V7. This will give unmatched looks with your 4-6 months durability.

Fuzion is at the top of my list of next things to try/buy. However, like so many others here, I've got too many products that I've got to use before I can justify getting any more. Unless I can manage a trade...

I suppose I could experiment a bit on the roof first since it's typically out of sight from ground level.

With the products listed that is a no-brainer but the Klasse twins make for an underdog combo though, especially if you go 2x's KSG (WAITING 12 HRS BETWEEN COATS). If you go with Klasse PLEASE remember to go thin on KSG and you'll be rewarded with a great finish that's easy to apply/remove, just keep your applicator damp when applying KSG.

I like the look of Megs NXT 2.0 topped with 26 but it will not last very long. I keep reading all the raves about CG BL, Petes 53 topped with V7. Might have to try that myself.

Never tried DG101 topped with Colly 915, but have tried DG 105 topped with 845 with very nice results.

I would NOT go with Collinite 915 after Blacklight. I have not had good luck with those two together but I love them both individually

Thanks SO much for sharing this. That was exactly the combo I was considering.
Since I have a hard tonneau cover on my truck, I'm thinking about sectioning it off and running 4-6 test squares with various combos.

Of course, I will be sure to take tons of pics and then hopefully post a decent review I can share with everyone. I know these comparisons are very hard to discern by pics alone, but hopefully it will help someone out.

I look forward to seeing your review :dblthumb2:!!! When I started detailing my autos several months back (after a two decade hiatus). I bought a CG bucket deal w/ ReVive polish/gloss, JetSeal, Pete's 53 and V7. It was a killer combo!!! So I agree w/ the BL, 53, V7. Have fun and post pics!

skip v7 until your next wash, bl topped with petes is a great combo, very wet / deep
