Pictures & Comments from January 30th Detailing 102 Class

Just finished cleaning up the classroom and moving the demo car from Saturday's class into the Studio for the night....

I'd like to say thank you to everyone that attended both yesterday's class and today's class, everyone was attentive, eager to learn and fun to work with. I'll try to get some pictures up from today's class into this pictures and comments thread as well as the pictures and comments thread from Saturday's class here,

Pictures & Comments from January 29th Detailing 101 Class

Here's a parting shot... this car was in dire need of claying, correcting, polishing and waxing and the students from our Saturday class took the paint to it's maximum potential. I'm confident the rental company will think we painted it!

Again... thank you everyone!

Here we go...

Pictures from Saturday's class, there's lots of pictures and basically what I've done is resized them all in the order in which they were taken, resized them, uploaded them and now I'm inserting them...

A big THANK YOU to Fred aka feslope for doing such a great job of playing class photographer... I have a surprise for you!

Wetsanding by Hand
We went over the technique for sanding by hand and then everyone was turned loose to try their hand at it...

Continued...

After hand sanding it was time to use the rotary buffers with wool pads and compounds to remove the sanding marks. Part of this portion of the class was to remember this experience and then compare it to what it's like to remove machine sanding marks.

I think most aggreed that it was much easier to remove machine sanding marks as compred to hand sanding marks and the bigger point is this...

Whenever you can machine sand... do machine sand... as the buff-out will be easier, faster and generate far less heat to the paint.

Definitely had a blast in the 102 class. It's amazing how different the tools are from its competitor. I will say I was excited after the class to go home and work on my own vehicle, again. :) Meeting Max, touring the facility, working beside Mike, and receiving free car goodies was an awesome added bonus to attending, in person. (Thanks for all of that AG!)

The class was invaluable, for me.
