Just a quick informal review of two quality LSPs - Pinnacle Liquid Sovereign (PLS) vs Collinite #845

Let me begin by saying I own and love both LSPs but a friend came over this weekend and wanted to do a carnauba test. We literally split the car down the middle and did half with #845 and the other side with PLS. Here's what we came up with:

Observations
both products are super easy to apply via machine
both products very easy to remove by hand, though PLS was easier - enough to notice
Visually, both LSPs looked great - no clear winner here. Test vehicle was a 2009 GS37 charcoal gray. sorry no pix since we were really in a hurry.
PLS was definitely smoother to the touch
Longevity is not an issue as our vehicles are waxed at least monthly.

Conclusions
Would probably go with the Pinnacle Liquid Sovereign since the feel was superior and easier to remove. If longevity is a concern, then I would recommend the #845. FWIW, no one has ever complained if I delivered there car with Collinite. Both LSPs are a pleasure to use and there's no bad choice here but...the Pinnacle won us over as a result of this shootout.

Why did you do this to me? Here I thought I had found the holy grail in 845, Shangri-La even, and now you tell me there is something better! I polished with P21S paint cleaner then used Duragloss 601/111 combo as my base. Finally, I topped my "Diamond White" Mercedes with a couple coats of 845 as my LSP (first coat with Griot's 6" polisher, second coat by hand). I stood back and thought it could not get any better and now I hear about this Pinnacle thing. Well, what the heck, I've tried just about everything else so might as well toss this in my basket too!!

LOL, I definitely wouldn't toss my 845 to the curb. In terms of looks, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Longevity, that point goes to #845 as well. Some much of this to me is work-ability and what's more enjoyable to use. In that sense I would give the edge to the Pinnacle and the buttery smooth feel of the paint once done. In both cases we applied the wax to the entire car and then went back and buffed out by hand. My buddy likes to use his Porter Cable to remove the wax but I convinced him to do it by hand. He feel in love with the Pinnacle side of the equation and we both easily passed the "blind taste test" when it came to feel. Typically when I help a friend detail their car I reach for the #845 because these subtle differences are wasted on them. What they care about is looks (again you can't tell the difference) and the #845 wears like iron which makes it the perfect choice.

Did I mention I did my car with the Pinnacle Signature Series II this weekend as well??

Thanks for the review, i have the Pinnacle Liquid Sovereign but have not used it yet. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks for the nice review of two fine products. :props:

As stated, both work very well and if you found Collinite 845 a little more difficult to remove it's probably an indication that it went on just a bit too thick. I'm not criticizing your test in any way because I've experienced the same thing and would have come to the identical conclusion as you.

I've found that when applying Collinite 845 with a soft foam pad using my dual action polisher, when I think the products going on too thin this is just the right amount of product needed for the application.

Your probably right Bobby. Just it's sometimes so hard to see on a white paint that even when your trying to spread it thin you wind up over applying. Don't get me wrong, I didn't need a hammer and chisel to get the 845 off, but the Pinnacle was literally effortless whereas the Collinite needed the tiniest bit of "mustard." A non factor imo but I thought worthy of mention in the context of the write up.
