Pinnacle shampoo and Foamaster

Morning people,

Am I wasting my precious money when using the relatively expensive Pinnacle shampoo in my Foamaster spray gun. As a stand alone car wash the shampoo is a pleasure to use. I just purchased the foam gun and it appears that the ounces of soap will just disappear from the reservoir when using it. (I have tried it, as of yet) Would it make sense to foam and soak with a less expensive shampoo, rinse, and then use the Pinnacle to hand wash the car as usual?

How much soap is used when foaming the car? Do you water down the product in the foamaster reservoir? Up to now, I've been using a garden sprayer that worked OK with about and oz-oz and a half of product watered down in its reservoir.

I'd be OK with that in the foamaster, but if we're talking several ounces just to soak the car, the pinnacle shampoo in the gun may not be worth it.

I think so. Pick up a gallon if Mr Pink, Maxi Suds, or Honeydew by CG. You get a gallon for twenty some dollars. MS is the cheapest and it foams better than 90% of the soaps out there, that's what I use.
 
I always set my foam gun to deliver the same concentration you would mix in a bucket (so if it's 1oz/gal in the bucket, that's what I set the gun for, although if the soap is thick you may have to dilute it in the cup so it will draw properly, and adjust the gun accordingly). Back in my pre-Autogeekian days, I would generally use only a gallon of soap mix to wash the car. I know a lot of people will use 3-5 gallons when they bucket wash, and I would say that is probably what I now use with the foam gun.

If you set your mix for crazy foam, then yes, you will probably be using many times the amount of soap that you would use in a bucket, simply because you are using a higher concentration than what you would use in the bucket.
 
I've been toying with the soap sprayer sold through Griots. Its ok, but I haven't used the CG soaps either, nor have I got the dilution just right either. Thanks for your replies.

Quite possibly! a co-worked had purchased it and she asked me to try it out. :xyxthumbs:

Not bad - the reservoir is small, so I'll most likely pick up one of the other larger capacity ones later on.
 
Yeah it does have a small reservoir, but going to be making other Detailing purchases first. Before I invest in a foam gun
