The plastic has a lot of oxidation.

This is a first for me. Anyone know how to fix it

I can upload a picture if that helps. !

Stop by an auto parts store and pick up some plastic polish. Put it on a foam pad and go to town- after you've done a test spot, that is.

Plast-x is available at some larger automotive stores and WalMart

Please take some good Before & After pictures

Alright. No luck with the before and after pics.

The customer was supportive and I got confused off the bat with what he wanted. I ended up doing a wash, Clay, D151 , and CAR PRO reload on top.

Wheels were cleaned with iron x and Meg's wheel and tire cleaner. (Ran out of my gallon of Sonax).

I polished the windows with..... A little trick I picked up.....Meg's m105. Works great on glass with a microfiber pad

Exhaust tips were cleaned with p21s polishing soap and some very fine steel wool.

Everything looked great. I'm still frustrated about the back window.

If you look in this picture you can see what kind of plastic window I was working with ...........

As you can see the plastic rear window is extremely oxidized. Every time I tried the plastic x on a polishing lad the window would cave in. Making it nearly impossible for the lad to do its job.

I'm going back to the house in a week to apply nanolex ultra window protectant

Better them opti-glass IMO.

You just may wind up having to find something to act as a "stiff-leg" in order to exert enough pressure to polish the ragtop's plastic window...Without causing the window to separate from its fabric pocket.

Perhaps a couple of foam bed pillows and blankets?

Don't forget that plastic rag top windows also haze up on the inside, which is even harder to clean and polish. The good news is that on a sports car it is very unlikely to have any scratches on the inside, just oxidation and gas film. Once I figure out how to reach in there without making a mess, the inside haze is usually gone in a quarter the time it takes to polish the outside.

1z deep plastic cleaner works great.

I was gonna post this product as well. works incredibly well at cleaning up haze for a spray on APC. pretty weird, but after using no polishing is required. stuff pulls oxidation like nobodys bizz.

you could even try using it on a machine polisher with a MF finishing disk. no pressure needed and you will want to try a test spot as some clear plastic is softer than others

There are numerous polishes that should improve that window - everyone has their favorites - and I'm not going to post mine - because you probably won't use it anyway....

But, just an FYI - you can replace hat rear window only with a new one for under $200. The aftermarket makes a kit with a new zip in rear window for Z3s.
