New to the site and new to detailing. I'm looking for information and recommendations to detail my midnight cherry slingshot as well as my wife's Neon green Honda Civic

I picked up some items from AutoGeek to detail the paint as per Elliot's suggestions

  • Griot's Garage 6 Inch Random Orbita
  • 3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plat
  • 3.5 Inch Lake Country CCS Pads
  • 6.5 Inch CCS Lake Country Pads
  • 32 oz. BLACKFIRE One Step
  • 16 oz. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Wax
  • Blackfire Clay Mitt
  • 500 ml. CarPro Cherry Scent Iron X Iron Remover
  • SAMPLES-(BLACKFIRE Wash & Wax BF-130-S)
  • SAMPLES-(BLACKFIRE Carnauba Spray Wax BF-390)
  • SAMPLES-(BLACKFIRE Rinseless Wash BF-200-S)

I'll use the Iron Remover, then the Clay mitt to prep the paint, then the BlackFire One Step which will do additional paint prepping and also seal it. Then finally buff on the liquid wax on both the slingshot and the Civic

I did the plastic baggie as a glove test and both the Sling and the civic are very rough.

Now I'm not sure about how to detail the black lower panels and rear of the slingshot. The panels are a textured black plastic. Any info regarding the black plastic would be greatly appreciated.
Also the seats on the Slingshot hare a marine grade vinyl, what is recommend for the seats?

Thanks in advance for any and all your suggestions

John

Lets start simple, what is best for detailing the black plastic? Any suggestions?

Nice vehicles!

Your strongest option and protection which comes at a cost would be Gyeon trim or Carpro Dlux. These are coating and will potentially last a year or two maybe more

If not wanting a coating I would start with the mckees plastic trim set

McKee's 37 Plastic Clean & Restore Combo

I know it says restore but it’s also for using on new trim as well.

Wolfgang WETS is another alternative

Even something along the lines of Sonax PNS or Meguiars Ultimate fast finish, Optimum car wax can work.

There are many I would not use a normal spray like 303 etc as they can have a water streaking issue with rain especially on all that plastic.

There are some marine sprays for the seats sold on autogeek as well. Mckees, marine 31 and Meguiars does Off the top of my head

Great recommendations from Matt. If you like to use the Blackfire products you could get their APC to deep clean the trim with and many of the other surfaces too. APC can be a little strong to be used on the LSP you have so spray on mf towel and the brush to not get any overspray on it. Then you can protect the trim with Blackfire Multi-Surface Dressing Kit. The seats I would also look into the marine products. As most protection you can use from the car detailing products can be slippery when applyied on the seats.

BLACKFIRE APC All-Purpose Cleaner, BLACKFIRE All-In-One All Purpose Cleaner

128 oz. BLACKFIRE All-In-One All Purpose Cleaner & 36 oz. Detail Bottle

BLACKFIRE Multi-Surface Dressing Kit

I found this kit to maintain your seats and maybe other surfaces in the drivers area.

Marine 31 Vinyl Cleaner & Protectant Kit

Can say I like Blackfire products, I've used the Onestep and find it produces a nice finish. But I'm new to detailing so I can't formulate an opinion about products yet.

Onestep was easy to apply with th DA polisher, and it wiped right off leaving a nice shine.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look over the Marine 31 vinyl...
