Polish across body panels?

I've been looking for a video that talks about this or a how-to article but haven't found it yet. I see a lot of videos of people polishing hoods and other straight-forward areas but do you polish across body panels like say from the door to the fender straight over the gap? How about the fuel door? Do you do the fuel door with the da polisher and just polish across the gap?

I don't polish across body panels. I split my sections up so that they end at the panel edge. Of course, some of the pad will go across the panel, but not enough to make a difference.

As for the fuel door, I just include it in that section. I won't go across it, but rather focus on it by itself as I cross over the door.
 
Buff up to body lines but don't buff on body lines.

Buff up to seams but don't buff over seams...

Most videos show buffing on hoods and trunks lids because it's like buffing on a table in front of you, it's easy to show technique and easy to capture on video and easy to show before and after results...

Here's another tip, if you can't bring the car up to you... (hydraulic lift), then bring yourself down to the car, that is sit across from it while buffing out the panel. Don't bend over and try to buff the sides of cars out as it's hard on your back.

Also, we show people buffing out vertical panels in almost all of our live broadcasts...

Thanks for the video link. Out of curiosity, how did you go about polishing the thin area between the door handle and the side of the door? Or the thin area surrounding the windows? Do those have to be done by hand as they seem rather narrow. I just purchased a gg6 from autogeek and am trying to learn as much as I can before it arrives. I ordered a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads so I'm guessing that I'll need to do the smaller stuff like the fuel door by hand?
