Polish instead of compounding after wet sanding

Just wondering can a Polish take a place of a compound after wet sanding using 1500 grit sandpaper.

Nope. You need to finish on 3000 before a polish has a chance of refining it.

Then a polish

Wetsand->compound->polish->LSP
