Polish on black trim. Help!

About three years ago, I got some Poorboys EX-P on my black trim. Its the rough texture trim along the bed cap on my Ram 1500. The white streaks are still there to this day! I give up. What will get rid of it? :cry:

I know, my fault for not being patient and going to fast.
 
I have had success with Meguiar's Ultimate Black. I have had to reapply after 6 months (of CA weather).
 
That product is horrible for staining trim. It also repeats on me on paint--what I mean by that is that you think you have it all buffed off, and then you keep finding spots you missed over and over again that you swear weren't there last time you checked.

Anyway, what you want is some APC and a soft brush, that will dissolve and remove the product from the texture. Alternatively, you can use something like this:

Griot's Garage Dried-On Wax Remover, remove dried wax, Griots Garage Wax Remover

Duragloss also makes one (that looks like a shoe polish bottle) but they don't seem to sell it here anymore.

I'm a noob. What is APC?
 
All Purpose Cleaner. Use an automotive one, not household. Or you can just try some isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or mineral spirits. If you are going to use a brush, make sure it's a soft one, you don't want to scuff the trim that may look worse than the EX-P.
 
Good old pink school eraser. The block one's make it the easiest. Need a little elbow grease but it's the best thing I ever used. I tried them all including multiple APC's
The eraser won't damage the trim.

Would have never thought of an eraser.
 
I do as setec said.

I made a video on the process and even though I'm taking off wax, polish remnants are taken out the same way.

Or you can try with steam cleaner. I have success with 6 months old polish resudue.
 
x2 re: APC and some elbow grease (less aggressive method is old short pile MF, middle level is various brushes and most aggressive is bristle brush on DA) or that Mothers heavy duty trim cleaner which is actually good stuff...but imo Power Clean or a similar alkaline APC will do the trick since that's all the trim cleaner really is.
