Polish Poly in Wood?

I have stripped and stained my kitchen table. I have laid 3 coats of gloss poly. I have read that you can use light car polish to well polish the finish to a high gloss shine.

Is this true, and if anyone has done it, what have they used? I'm thinking 205 with a white pad..

I would treat it similar to a clear coat. If you want it glass smooth, wet sand first up through the grits then polish, or compound/polish. I have done spar urethane this way, but make sure to let it cure for a while first.

Oh, and do a test spot. ;)
