I am not sure how this happened. I had a bad scratch on a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Customer asked what could be done. I totally expected that it would polish away the edges and clean up the dirt, making it less noticeable. To my astonishment and bewilderment, the scratch was completely gone.

M105, Makita PO5000C and an orange pad.

I had already done half the scratch and was so blown away that I recorded the rest. Please check out the video and tell me ### just happened.

Thanks!

Any idea how much clear coat is left? If it was nail catching I’m surprised it came out like that and left enough CC for future detailing.

It is a 2016, had never been polished before, and I gave it 4 passes with a DA and M105. So there should be plenty of clear coat left.

I got a similar one out on a pearl white maxima. But that only required jescar micro finishing polish (essentially menzerna 3500) and an orange pad on my mt300.

I personally have seen 1mil removal with even something as gentle as top finish machine glaze and an orange pad, albeit with a $20 cheapo amazon paint gauge, but I'd be interested to see what the before and after was on that Hyundai. Are they still using single stage nowadays for white hyundais?
