Ok so if I want to polish a windshield that has water spots and streaks and what not do I just use a cut pad on high speed with some for example ultimate compound or water spot remover (also by Meg's) or should I just a polish/finish pad with a lower speed? Thanks guys

Whichever gets the job done. Generally glass is a lot harder and more forgiving than paint, so you can usually skip to a more aggressive method.

A couple of things to remember. You are unlikely to remove and wiper trails or scratches without a dedicated glass polish and a fair amount of effort. Also, if you have rock chips/pits, beware that you may get some polish trapped in those pits that if it dries, will create a lot of unsightly white dots. Make sure you clean well and clay before the polishing.

i'd go with Ultimate Compound. i use M105 and a cutting pad on glass to remove hard water spots. i'm not a fan of the water spot remover, but it works on paint.

get yourself som DP Glass Restorer and some glass pads and you'll be good to go. Love DP Glass Restorer!

whats the difference in the water spot remover and a compound? is it just less aggressive?

to remove water spots or to polish glass?
Your stating to different things.

I'm thinking you just want to remove water spots.

Megs WSR works but take a lot of time and doesn't work on all surfaces.

I've discovered that Sulfuric Acid works much better and on all surfaces.
Mark V products sell "Splash" that works great!!!
Wipe the area for a few mins with Splash the spray with water and done!

But if your going to use Meg's WSR then here is how I USED to do it.
DA with a 3" Micro Fiber Cutting pad and a little WSR. polish until there's no more water spots. It take awhile. So just work the area until your happy.
Speed is med. No real concern about "burning" the glass like paint. Just don't work a small area for 10 mins. and use water to cool it down if it gets hat, not warm, hot. Warm is good, hot isn't.

I used some dura gloss Nu-glass the other day with a glass pad on my flex and was just amazed. Not only did these stubborn water spots come off but there was some road film on the glass that I didn't even notice until I finished half the windshield. It was crazy how much clearer it was.

I may be slow, but I do poor work.

I just purchased the DP glass restorer. I have a white hexlogic and tangerine hydoterch. Which would you use? what speed on 7424?

4.5 - 5 works well with this product on a polishing pad.

Both are polishing, but I went with the hex (since I am more familiar with it) and speed set at 4.5. It worked really well. thank for reply Guz
