hi,

whats the difference?
when do you use which?
they are all mf's right?
aren't they interchangeable?
how do you differentiate each one from their look/feel?

- polishing cloth
- buffing cloth
- wax removal cloth

I like using a long nap microfiber towel for removing polish residue. And like using short nap microfiber towels for sealant and wax removal.

Yes they do matter and no they are not interchangeable. A cutting pad would be thinner and lighter compared to a wax applicator pad which would be thicker. The pads could have different materials such as foam or microfiber

lol He was asking about towels not pads. :P

I just use any microfiber but the long nap will help grab the sticker polish and dust better.

so here what should it be then?

- polishing cloth (long nap)
- wax removal cloth (short nap)
- buffing cloth - ???

so what's the buffing cloth for?

Microfiber Towels Comparison Chart

Its not all about nap length IMO, its about the blend and weight. The blend/weight will mostly determine the level of overall absorbency and "softness" to the paint/glass panel so you will find different towels for buffing, polishing, wax removal and drying.

This is an area where you will find different opinions. Generally you use a long nap when you are doing something like QD'ing or waterless washing, so there is a place for the dirt to go rather than being rubbed along the surface. Conversely, a lot of people like a flat weave or shorter nap towel for removing tough residues (some polishes or waxes) from clean surfaces because the towel doesn't squirm as much. But some people like to use short nap towels for applying spray waxes because the towel doesn't absorb as much product.

The bottom line is there is no firm answer for this...confusing, right?

Hello everyone I am kind of new to Autogeek forums. I believe I used them maybe once or twice before. Anyways I was wondering if any one could tell me what type pads I should get for the Meguiars Dual Action Polisher G110v2 in order to get out fine scratches and swirl marks. This will be my first time using a D.A Polisher and want to make sure I get exactly what I need. Any suggestions? Also if you could suggest the types of polish or compounds I use to get them out. Any suggestions will help.
