Hey guys, just wanted to ask if you had any tips for buffing and polishing chrome and stainless window, door, bumper trim and any other.

I have a couple older vehicles (70-80's) I will be detailing and wanted to know how you guys do these type of tight spots.

I plan to clay then use chrome or metal polish depending on the material followed by a sealer.

One issue I am concerned with is not spreading product from the trim to the paint. I am guessing taping off will be my friend in this scenario.

Thank you.

Tape will be your new best friend. There's only so much you can do with a DA/metal finishing.

Small pads, bp's, rotary extension, and a rotary will help tremendously.

Check Mike's tool/accessory/product choice

When it comes to stainless, the best you can expect is to brighten and color the metal without proper sfpm's for correction.

I also like using 6.25" OMF finishing pads/Mothers al. polish/9227 on bumpers. Both for removal and application.

On trim and tight spots, I use felt polishing attachments on a dremmel with a metal polish.

When i was younger i was a nut when it came to polishing metal. I have used so many products its not even funny. One product that stood out way above all others was wenols. Just giving my 2 cents on a good metal polish that may help you out.

Well, I'm not a metal polishing expert, but - I do know how to polish exhaust tips. I tried the standard stuff: Meg's Metal Polish, Nevr Dull, etc... Nothing worked to my expectations... until... I tried P21S Multi Surface Finish Restorer:

Then you can maintain it with the P21S Polishing Soap. Nothing has worked for me like these 2 products.

Wow, I've never gotten my tips that clean using P21S Multi Surface Finish Restorer - how did you apply it?

Small Wheel Woolie in a drill used to polish. I think I actually made this technique up. It gives amazing results for inside exhaust tips. But, the P21S FR worked better than "metal polish".

Very cleaver. I like it. I've been on the fence about picking up a set of wheel woolies - this seals it.
