Polishing over pinstriping?

Hey guys, I've been meaning to ask this question for a while but I always forget. Anyway so there's pinstriping that goes down the side of my car. It's not under clearcoat or anything. It's just like the sick-on kind. I've taped it off in the past becasue I figured the pad along with the compound/polish going over it would damage it but will it?

yep especially if a rotary. all glues can fail. you could try doing the stripe by hand very carefully.

Be careful when removing the tape that the stripe doesn't come with it.

I always tape it off. You dint want to damage it and cleaning the residue from there is a pain. Nothing looks worse than white outlines going along the pinstripe
