Poll:Grit Guard in wheel bucket

Was wondering if people here use a grit guard in the wheel bucket. I have not been in the wheel bucket for some time, however, been using them in the paint buckets as that would be a total sin. I personally feel if wheels are taking so much of a beating on the road, lubed wheels with a cleaner and such will not be terrible. That is just me but im welcome to other sides of the argument


Tomorrow ill be working on a nissan with probably some nyc damage-ie fallout, scrapes, bumper taps, and the like, family car and they are mostly neat so it should not be terrible
 
i have an extra one so i use it in the wheel bucket. i don't want my wheel woolies/brush and wheel mitt to sit at the bottom of the bucket where all the heavier dirt/contamination is at...
 
I do and for exactly the reason Visitor mentioned. I may have 4 or more different wheel/tire/well cleaning tools sitting in the bucket and I don't like them sitting in nasty wheel bits and dirt. I also change out to fresh rinse water after doing the first side.
 
Good to know an opposite opinion so far. I think you know paul how bad the city can be on vehicles.
 
The only reason I use a grit guard is because my friend gave me one several years ago.

If I used a separate bucket for my tires and wheels, I more than likely wouldn’t use a grit guard in it.
 
I have one in there. It’s cheap enough to have one in every bucket. My rinse bucket also has a washboard.
 
Worked on some of the rogue.

Basically did a heavy wheel cleaning, vac and wipedown of surface and glass, foam wash, 2 bucket wash, iron decon which was real bad and a clay. I only had barely 5 hours to do all this. Next time ill fix up some other stuff and do a light polish.

Lol. Actually no. I'm WAY out on the tip of LI. Rural as can be.

But dirt is dirt. Love the Grit Guards.
 
No grit guard in my wheel bucket. It wouldn't fit even if I wanted 1.

Im using the homer buckets, simple, made in usa and good quality, grit guard fits snug.
 
Aren't all buckets are created equal? The only thing that separates them are the handles.. Does Homer bucket have a quality plastic handle? Or cheapo uncomfortable metal 1?

I've run into 5 gallon buckets that are tapered too steeply and will not allow the GG to fall/fit to the bottom. Those buckets hold the bottom GG approximately 2-3 inch from the bottom of the bucket. I too thought all 5 gallon buckets were equal prior to finding these deviants:)

I've never ran into such buckets... I've also never set out and actually picked any out, I've gotten all mine either as freebies from buying large quantities of product or found them in the garage.

All I know is these kind on the left are the best kind because the handle lasts a long time + is far more comfortable to hold.
The middle kind with the metal handle are murder on the hands.
The 1 on the right had a metal handle to kill hands and has now completely broken off. Cheapo buckets... I'll take a plastic handle I don't care where it's made. China? Bring it!

Definitely not. The lowes and walmart buckets cannot fit the grit guard as the circumference does not all for it to fit snug on the bottom. Some are also lower quality. Often you can get 2 homer buckets for 5 dollars and and third for the wheels if need be

I would never go to Lowes to shop for a bucket... I'm tellin you I get em for free and they work. Lol
