Polytrol was mentioned in a previous thread and I had never heard of it.
I’m doing a complete detail of a 2010 Acura MDX…it has a large black textured rear bumper and front air dam in addition to side running boards.
I prepped the areas with rigorous cleaning using apc, megs 39, and a wipe down.
I considered the options…a ceramic coating like DLux, pinnacle black coating, spray ceramic, or polytrol. I decided against the ceramic coating idea due to the potential for uneven wear, inability to remove and recoat if needed, etc.
So I did a test spot with the Polytrol and let it cure. It looked great. Deepened the black color and had a uniformed look that renewed the whole appearance without looking like a dressing. Matte and enriched color.
I’ve done the whole back bumper and one side runner. On half of the runner, I topped with turtle wax ceramic spray…it feels slicker than the untreated part…am testing to see whether the ceramic helps with color retention and cleanliness.
Do you have any experience with Polytrol? I’m curious about longevity, appearance over time, and if you have applied a coating over it and what impact that had.
At this point, I’m a fan of Polytrol.
