So Poorboy's Bird Sh#t remover claims to neutralize the acids in the poop. Does this mean that the product has some sort of alkaline component to it? Thanks

The MSDS for this product shows no such thing. In fact, it is a common MSDS which covers their clay lube/spray&gloss/QD+/Bird Sh!t products, ie. they're all the same formulation.

You'd be just as well off using something like ONR or Uber Rinseless mixed to the QD ratio ... waaaaay cheaper too !

Well that sucks! I may just have to formulate something myself then. I was looking for something that would actually neutralize the acids in the poop while cleaning it off. I wonder if you mixed up a bottle of WW and put a little APC in it if that would be the ticket??

I would stick to the QD or WW, if you start adding APC you might start removing your LSP too.

As for "neutralizing" the acid content, doing so during the cleaning process offers no benefit ... if acid damage is going to happen, it will occur during the period from when the poop hits the paint up until you remove it.

Google Autoglym bird dropping. Their research found that it isn't the uric acid in bird droppings that ruins clearcoat. It's the heaing and cooling cycles and temperature differential if you don't clean it off. You may or may not believe it but an interesting read.
