Hello,

I can get a used Porter 7334 for $60.

Gentleman says that it was used for sanding.

The 5 inch pad detoriated and it now has the 6inch pad. He did not change the weight.

So the way I see it, I will only use for polishing so I would need to get the Lake County 5 inch orange and white pads and the backing plate for the pads so th current sanding disc does not matter. Is this correct? (sorry i'm new at this)

Will the current weight on the 7334 be ok? I know it is a single speed but ..........????

I'm going to use this for my 2011 White Ram and my wife's 2006 Honda. Personal use only and about 3-6 times year combined on both vehicles.

Let me know if this is a deal at $60 or not.

Thanks
Tony

That's an old model, it might have a lot of time on it. I'm not sure if it's a "deal" at $60, it's certainly not a "steal". The counterweight doesn't make a huge difference but you should be able to get the 6" one for a few bucks when you are buying your backing plate and pads.

Check to make sure it's not gunked up with sawdust in the vents and see if you can get him to drop the price. It won't be as powerful as some of the newer machines, BTW.

Oh...I thought the choice was between buying this one and a new machine. If it's between hand "waxing" and buying this--I'd go for it. Bear in mind that it's going to cost you at least $40 to get started with backing plate and pads.

So $100 to get started? I can deal with that I believe. What is the cost of a start up package off Mequires, or Griots or 7424XP?

Doesn't sound right. It should have the same speeds as a PC. It's my understanding that a 7334 has a lower amp than the 7224. Don't know how that relates to power. I'd say pass on $60 since that's probably more than 50% of what it cost new at a hardware store, and you'll probably have no warranty (just a guess).
