The Porter Cable 7424XP comes with a pad.

What is this pad used for?

I purchased some Lake Country pads for use already.

Any use for this pad that comes with the polisher or should I just be tossing it?

Thanks!!

Useless for detailing.

I did however give mine to my cousin who does high-end woodworking. It works great for applying his non-silicone protectants to all of his machine surfaces.

Your LC pads will work great. Did you get the 5.5" pads and 5" BP

It’s good for metal polishing. Certainly don’t use it on paint tho.

It's similar to the white Lake Country flat pad.

You could use it for cleaner waxes, or practicing on scrap panels / cars.

I sold mine on eBay.

use to polish countertops or cut it up and use it to apply tire/trim dressings...

With the appropriate MF Bonnets that Plate and Pad can be utilized for machine wax-sealant removal.

Keep the speeds low and it will hold up OK.

Ha ha....

It's a "Starter Pad" that Porter Cable includes to get a person started.

I've spoken with Engineers for Black & Decker, (I think they now own Porter Cable), they don't care anyting about us car detailers. Didn't care to hear my ideas to make their PC as good as the Griot's 6" Random Orbital Polisher and my guess is they don't care that the pad they include is WAY TOO THICK to be functional to actually polish paint effectively.

So yeah...

Stick with LC pads or event the Griot's BOSS thin foam pads, both work great on the PC
