SunJoe SPX3001, comes with a 20 or 25ft 1/4in hose.... Obviously it needs upgrading to a 50ft hose...

Any reason not to upgrade to a 3/8 hose?

Other than price and possibly weight, no. Get whatever you can get a better deal on and fits your needs.

Everything I've seen shows no measurable difference. Plus a 3/8 hose still has to go through the same size qd, gun and nozzle, 1/4 hose is about the least restrictive part of the system anyway.
Edit to add, a nice 3/8 hose can be better to work with. Most 1/4 hoses feel pretty cheap.

For what it's worth....I have an SPX3000 and used the 25ft hose that came with it for years......it was fairly durable, and is still intact. For a lot less than a 50 ft 3/8 hose, you can get a 25ft extension hose directly from SunJoe. I was given (for Christmas) a 50ft Kobrajet, which is very nice, but still have uses for the original that came with the unit.

I guess there's also the deal with the reel to hose connection on the 3001 which is a bit of a ballache apparently.

More than a just a bit

I have yet to definitively hear of anyone attaching a non SunJoe hose to a 3001. Or any hose aside from the one it came with for that matter.

I decided to just add a SunJoe 25ft extension to what it came with. It showed up today. Ops Chk ok :)
Already added QD's.

Gonna leave the power cord in the sun so I can get all the damn kinks out of it, maybe find an old cable reel to wrap it around.
