Post Your Unpacking Pictures

Picked up some Bluetooth thermometers. These are small coin cell battery powered. I plan to stash these in my car next summer to measure how hot it gets in the trunk/car for storing lithium batteries, etc. Will probably put one inside a soft sided cooler bag and one outside it to see if it makes a difference if I have a bottle of bourbon in the trunk on a hot day.

6.55 on Advance Auto clearance

That seems like a really good deal. That's the one that's Cerakote, with some extra cleaner wipes or something, right? Unfortunately there aren't really any Advance stores convenient to me--oh wait, there is one, I guess that's new (just looked at the store locator).

EDIT: I just checked, that store doesn't have it. Oh well, I still have a Cerakote kit I haven't used yet.

Finally got a windscreen sun shade made to fit the FJ at a reasonable price. Any available locally were well over $100, and it wasn't economical to import any myself. Finally some appeared on Amazon with free delivery, and only $36.99, no tariffs either.
It isn't pushed completely into position in these pics.

Yes. This is the severe kit which also comes with sanding discs as well, I believe. Mother's clay kit is also on clearance. Ordered one for pickup at another location but haven't gotten confirmation yet.

Do you have a victim for that headlight kit? I have a car that the factory coating failed and I had to sand it all off years ago. I have never found anything that keeps them from yellowing, so I usually just polish the yellow off periodically, but I decided to try the Cerakote.

Problem is, they insisted (customer service email) that I had to sand the headlights prior to applying the Cerakote coating...which put me off from using the kit.

PS Thanks for the Mother's clay tip...but I have so much clay from too many other clearance sales, etc.

I've used the Griot's moderate kit before on my gf's previous car. That kit doesn't have any sanding discs, just oxidation remover and the ceramic wipes. It didn't improve things that much but she was against sanding. She didn't have it long enough to test durability. I wouldn't expect it to last forever but Griot's has a warranty on it so you could probably just get a replacement kit if it needs to be redone in the future.

Last night it showed me I think 4 other ("local") stores that had the Griot's kit in stock, this morning it's 3, and they are pretty far away, so I thought I would see how much shipping was, but it's "out of stock" for shipping (presumably at the warehouse), so I guess they've pretty much been all snapped up.

The clearance stuff goes quick. I just ordered for pickup. You have 7 days to get it. One store by me had the Griot's kit. There were a number of empty shelf spaces with red clearance shelf tags when I went in there last night. One store by my gf's place had the clay. They actually called me this morning to say they didn't have it but could order it and get it this morning. I said that was fine and then they called me back a few minutes later saying they found it.

Don't remember when AutoZone usually does their clearance. I might pop in there as well.

AutoZone has some Griot's stuff on clearance.

One of the local suppliers launched their Black Friday sale early, this year I went a little berserk! In defence, I had been holding off ordering some of this until the sale kicked off.

- Carpro Reset is a high use soap for me. At $134.95, it's always expensive in 4-litre containers. I probably can't quote the price I paid for it this time as the 20% sale discount applies to a trade price that I'm lucky to get, but it was quite the saving.

- The same applies to NV Purge, especially after a recent price hike. Purge is the only dedicated wheel cleaner I bother with now. Some of its rivals work the same or worse but cost more, so I just stick with Purge.

- I also needed a good bulk soap, something more affordable than Reset and GSF. I had been waiting on another brands soap to return to stock, but it's been months now and I needed something right away. Frankly, the quality of NV Snow cannot be beaten at this price.

- KCx Active Foam and GSF are always a pleasure to use. This sale brings them back to the price they were when Waxit took over earlier in the year.

- I've been using the pre-mixed Hydr02 Lite for a while now as I found mixing my own via the concentrate to be a little unstable. I've since found out that Hydr02 Lite is effectively made at a 1:9 ratio, so I'll give that a go and see if it solves the issues I had when mixed at 1:6.

- The green liquid with a handwritten Wise Guy label was on clearance due to a batch of missing labels. Considering I mix it up in bulk, the lack of label doesn't bother me.

- The price of the 1-litre measuring cups was too good to ignore. Always handy to have, these will probably get used for machinery maintenance rather than detailing.

- The Solution Finish had been out of stock for months, and my bottle was nearly empty. ADS Trim+ has probably replaced this product for longer-term trim restoration, but for whatever reason, I think Solution Finish is the safer.

- The Carpro Dilute bottles I use for back-to-back product testing and easy dilution ratio calculations. These come with normal Carpro spray heads.

- Finally, a new product from Carpro, the Finger Print wheel mitt. These use the same fibres as the benchmark Dab Dab wash pads, but are smaller than the virtually useless Wheels Mitt. At about 15cm x 15cm, these are similar in concept to the TRC Ultra Wheel Mitt and ideal for intricate wheel spokes. So far, I haven't seen much content on this wash mitt.

I saw that sale as well, I've resisted, so far. But I don't really need anything.

I'm also waiting to see what the sale at DS is like, not so worried about CCP.

DS usually do 10% off selected brands. I know they prefer to keep margins, otherwise its simply a case of moving boxes around with little gain.

Waxit seem to be more motivated by generating volume, hence launching it well before the rest of their competitors.
