Post Your Unpacking Pictures

Two tool purchases to kick off this season the right way. The new MaxFlow PW comes tomorrow but the new 3" cordless came late yesterday. I've not yet used the machine other than to quick play with it.

12mm orbit for effective polishing and correction

6 adjustable speed settings

Quiet, low-vibration operation

Compact cordless design for maximum maneuverability

Compatible with 3" and 2" pads

mini buffer comes with 12mm orbit movement and powerful 175watt, 4000-7000 RPM with 1-6 Variable Speed for easy control and precision.

This looks to be competitive to the Shinemate 3" EB212 but I haven't used that one. So far, the fit to hand, noise level and indoors playing with it feels good. Looking forward to more testing / use "in the real world".

Purchased from a US seller with a small detail business and supply store. Not a AliE or Temu purchase

The batteries on that look very similar to the ones on my Ryobi 12v stuff, probably made in the same factory.

I looked up the brand to see what they offer, I found this, I'm wondering why you'd need this over a larger 5 or 6 inch polisher. Anyone seen one like this before.PSX_20260410_084951.jpg

That's a plastic knockoff of a Cyclo, which Rupes purchased some years ago to land a US facility. The design of the Cyclo dates back to WWII for polishing aluminum airplanes.

Hmm....they started painting them, mine is raw polished aluminum: https://www.rupes.com/product/cy132e/

Do I ever use mine? No, but some people over on Autopia used to like them. Last time I used mine was when I brought it to work and polished up a stainless steel lid on a piece of equipment that was all water-spotted.

Another order from Detailing Shed.

The order was mostly for the microfiber towels. I've decided to move from Creature Edgeless to Eagle Edgeless for my "good" interior towels. The difference here isn't massive, where the Creature has a long and short nap, the Eagle is long nap each side. I also find the Creature loses softness over time, even with correct care. With so much glossy finishes in modern cars, you kinda need a towel like this.

The second towel is another round of Edgeless Pearl, which I like for coating removal. I have these in both colours, grey and orange, which helps keep track of which is the first wipe and which is the second.

Adapt and Pilot are restocks, the Clean APC is new though. I don't use a lot of APC, but so many rave about this stuff, so I thought I'd check it out. Naturally, a matching Pressol and label set was also ordered.

Finally, a set of replacement rubber locking feet for Detail Guardz Dirt Lock grit guards. I bought those Dirt Locks several years ago before sidelining them in disgust because they just wouldn't stay at the bottom of the bucket. Since then, they've redesigned the rubber feet, so here's hoping they actually work this time.

Looking forward to some garage time in the next couple of days, has been a busy week on the tools and from behind the keyboard. I've been working on something new, some here may already know, but at the moment I'm just finding my way.

On my previous detail from the other day I was doing a big Ford F250 that was Hammered! Not just the exterior but interior too. When I began vacuuming inside I immediately felt it was going nowhere, something was wrong. I felt like my hose must’ve been clogged because the suction was poor as were the results.

So I switched to my original 2.5” black hose and the suction was night/day. Huge suction and it was fun to use the big 2.5” attachments for the 1st time in a long time and they actually worked pretty good on such a large truck interior that was extremely dirty.

I wound up testing out what was wrong with my 10’ Orange Ridgid hose by spraying a strong stream of water on the Jet setting from the garden hose nozzle and that’s when I immediately saw the problem, there was a bunch of holes/cracks that had developed in the hose due to wear & tear/age.

So today I bought a replacement. The Bauer detailing kit from Harbor Freight. $10 off coupon so it came out to $20+tax.
It’s an exact replica of the Ridgid kit + a couple of additional goodies. Seems pretty solid.

The 2 brushes come in plastic inserts which will actually be pretty useful for storing them nice and neat when not in use. They also include a 2.5” to 1.25” adapter which I had lost and I could definitely use.

I used the new vacuum hose today and holy cow it feels like a brand new vacuum. I almost couldn’t believe the how big of a difference it made. I waited way too long.
