Product Review : Pinnacle XMT 180 High Gloss Carnauba Paste Wax

I got a chance to use this wax this weekend on a white TrailBlazer (show and shine coming in a couple of days).

I applied the wax with some of the Autogeek foam applicators. These are very nice, and if you haven't picked up some of them for your hand waxing, I'd suggest them. They are very thick and disperse product nicely. The are a solid core, not like the applicators that come with waxes in a box sometimes.

This wax is an absolute dream to work with. It goes on very thin and spreads easily. Let it haze and wipe it off without ever putting any real effort into it. It also smells great - kind of a light cherry scent. I wiped off with a Cobra Supreme 530.

It is not a hard wax. Upon first opening it, it was cracked around the edge (as is usual with carnuba's).
But after a few swipes with the foam app. all was well.

For ease of use this product ranks well in my book. Prior to this application, my last canned carnuba was the Mother's Carnuba that I was trying, and it was quite a bit tougher than this stuff to work.

In the looks department, it is hard to really brag on white, but this wax (on top of XMT 360) had a very nice gloss. When you get white to shine, it really is a pretty color.

So if you are looking in the $30 price range, don't write this stuff off. I would definitely buy it again.

Nice, I've been a little curious about this wax cause it's never really mentioned. I assumed it would be soft and easy to apply/remove just because it's by Pinnacle. Let us know how long it lasts for ya, though it may be hard to tell with an XMT 360 base.

When you said it has a light cherry scent I immediately thought "that would go nicely over XMT 360"... as if scent matching is the important part. LOL

Thanks for the review.

I'll let you know A4 after a month or so what it looks and protects like.

The two scents do compliment each other very well, something I look for in my products. Kidding.

You definately don't hear anything about this product, so hopefully your durability review will be decent!

I first tried Pinnacle SSII then I saw that XMT was made by pinnacle so I said why not I will give it a shot. On all the XMT waxes and polished it says "can be applied in the sun or shade". Being a detailer in sunny South Florida I taught why not I'll give it a try. Man was a dissappoint. It was about 85-90 outside. I was working on a light color vehicle and the wax was leaving shades behind. So I pulled the car in the shade let the paint cool and the same thing happened. I had to wash the vehicle twice to make sure all the shadows where gone. Now the wax did bead pretty well but it didnt last very long. All and all I wasnt to please.

Great write up BTW. Sorry for the thread jack

Shawn - thanks for the reminder - I forgot to say where I applied;

I applied this in a garage that was air temp. ~65°.

Update:
After about a couple of months on the original test vehicle (which has had several washes) this is pretty well worn off (different kind of beading and not as easy to wash tells me it is now just the protection left by the 360 it was applied on top of). However, up to 1 month this stuff will bead like a champ if that's what you want. Tried it on a black car and it done great for about 5 weeks with 0 washes.

If you are a regular waxer, then this is a fair product for the price.

I also tried applying it differently on a couple of vehicles. Thin to medium thin is best. I applied i thick on a couple of panels just to see what it would do, and wipe off was fairly tough - but not miserable.

Hmmm... I was thinking of getting this one!

any idea how XMT180 compares to DP MaxWax??

Great wax at a great price. Not many people know about it, kind of like Max Wax.

sohail - this is a completely different formula than Max Wax. Both are great products, though. If you're looking for "bang for your buck", you can't go wrong with either one.
