After a lot of reading, ive narrowed it down to this process for prepping/maintaining a non-metallic black Cayman S. Thing is I need to order the products (mostly from autogeek and some from pakshak) and have them delivered by a friend before the car is delivered. I thus need to order EVERYTHING Ill be needing at once! So hopefully u guys can tell me if im ordering anything unnecessary or replaceable by another product.

Products are:

Menzerna 106FF and IP
6.5" CCS Pads

Glaze:
Clearkote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze
Clearkote Red Moose Machine Glaze

Claying/Washing/Drying:

Prepping Process:
Wash
Clay
Wash
Menzerna 106FF on White 6.5" CCS Pad using a Porter Cable

Pinnacle Souveran (wait 24 hours)
Optiseal

Am I good to go? :D Feed back please

The Cayman is a nice looking car. 4" pads are nice for tight hard to get to places.

I meant to introduce myself but couldnt find a special section for it! :P

Ive been reading these forums for a while after doing lots of thorough browsing on autogeek.net, my recent obsession with detailing started around 6 months ago when I was looking forward to buying a solid black Porsche Cayman S. With lots of people making a fuss on the horrors of black paint, I looked into detailing and after a bit of reading I fell in love! I thus plan to order some products and practice a bit until the car hopefully arrives in September or October.. This forum looks like a small and friendly community,
so I guess ill be sticking around here for a long while :P

Cheers

I think the two glazes are slightly redundant, but otherwise some sound design.

VMG=hand polishing, RMG=machine polishing

Welcome to the addiction, first of all that is a fine, fine vehicle you purchased. Congrats on the the purcahse.

Sounds like you have done your home work my friend, well done. You will find the 106FF to be a good product and the Optimum line up is good too.

So looking forward to your pictures of your new baby.

Thank you :)... I cant wait till the car arrives myself! hopefully I can spend sometime acquiring some detailing skills, before I get to touch the car :P.. Should also be a good way to kill time!

What do you guys use as a wheel sealant? can optiseal protect the wheels for long?

Duragloss #101 and after each wash use DG #951 to keep the gloss and protection up.

We used to run some Porsches, still have our SC for track. Heard from one of the guys that somebody was dropping in a modded GT3 engine into his Cayman.....should be a fun car LOL.

DP wheel glaze.

From what I've been reading it seems that VM has cleaning abilities while RMG does a good job in making the paint more reflective and deep. Many seem to see gains in mixing them and using them as a one step glaze..

Gary Sword:
Do you recommend the small CCS pads, or should I go for the LC flat ones?

D&D Auto Detailing and sparkie:
Thanks for the recommendation, how long have these products lasted for you? Do they seem to limit the gathering of brake dust on the wheels?

sparkie/Nica:
Lots of pictures will get on here as soon as it arrives! sadly I need to wait for delivery in september/october :(

Surfer:
Thats news from me! Ive only heard of the recent turbocharger from TPC racing and the 3.6 liter engine replacement! Coming from a CLK200 Kompressor I doubt Ill be dissatisfied with the power of the CS :P

scottgt:
Already having the big guzzler in mind! Hope itll be in stock when I finalize my order :)

Thank you all!

Not sure on the durability of the DP glaze. But it cleans the wheels and leaves them feeling very smooth and slick. Any brake dust will wash right off.

Maybe some Menzerna Final Polish II to jewel up the surface. ANd I would use a spray wax (Liquid Souveran Spray Wax) after each wash to keep up the glossy finish and guaranty a water streak free finish.

Also, looking at the process, are you sure you want to put the Optiseal on AFTER the Souveran Paste? That has been discussed here, but I am not sure what the final word was on whether that is the preferred order of application.

Nice list. For your "various Cobra MF's" make one a Guzzler. You won't be sorry. You list Sheepskin Mitt and ShMitts. I'd choose one or the other, the ShMitts being the most popular on here.
Welcome to the Forum.

As far as microfiber goes, I use Cobra Blue Indigo to remove polish, Cobra Jr. to remove wax, sealants, and XMT 360 (LSP's), Cobra glass towel for glass, Cobra blue all purpose for interior, and some crappy microfiber from Advance Auto for engine bays and door jams. And of course the Guzzler for drying.

I was curious myself regarding Optiseal so i checked on the optimum forums' FAQ section:

Dose Opti-seal lock in my Carnauba?
"No. The solvents will dissolves carnauba floating it to the top of the
Opti-Seal. This fact holds true with any solvent based WOWA sealant.
The carnauba is not removed just repositioned.

Both methods in theory should give the same results. If it were me I would apply the Carnauba first.
Doing this will help the foam applicator pad glide across the paint much easier."

I have the following in my cart on AG.net:
The Ultimate Guzzler Waffle Weave By Cobra 28 x 44 x2
Cobra Microfiber Towel Super 5 Pack

I also get one with Souveran and a pair with the Porter Cable CCS kit! Also ordering a 3 pack of Monster Fluffies to try...Do i need more? :P

This is correct. You'll have problems with these two products.

Wash
Clay
Wash
Menzerna 106FF on White 6.5" CCS Pad using a Porter Cable
Vanilla Moose
RMG
Pinnacle Souveran (wait 24 hours)
Optiseal

I personally would skip the VM and the RMG and keep it simple - polish/OptiSeal/Souveran

After a day or so go over that with another OptiSeal.
