Hi I'm looking at buying a Pressure Washer to use with a foam cannon.
Which pressure washer and model are the best.
Is a Pressure washer the same as a water blaster?

I've not heard the term 'water blaster', so I can't answer your second question. As far as your first question....'best' is subjective. You did not indicate whether you preferred electric or gas....I can give you some feedback there. You can go top of the line and get a Kranzle, or you can go with an inexpensive unit like I did...the SunJoe SPX3000. For three years, it has served me very well without issues. I use mine with a foam cannon, and it puts out decent foam and has more than enough power to wash cars. It can handle some minor household tasks as well. I've used it for powerwashing siding and outdoor furniture, but would hesitate to use it on bigger jobs.

Electric.

Electric.

A lot depends on your budget. When you talk high end electric pressure washers, the name Kranzle will come up. GPM is more important than PSI, and the closer you can get to 2.0 GPM the better. Keep in mind that most manufacturers overstate the statistics on their machines. My SunJoe is rated for 2030 PSI/1.76 GPM.....I've no idea where they got those numbers, but I believe they are unrealistic. That being said, it handles washing of vehicles/foam cannons very well...more than enough power to do the job.

Active has come out with some more budget friendly pressure washers that come very close to the 2.0 GPM mark. It's worth looking into those too. One thing to keep in mind....several of the higher end pressure washers will need a dedicated 20 amp circuit to run them...my SunJoe and the Active ones only need 15 amp

I don't have a "should buy", I have a "don't buy"

My Greenworks 2300 Pro has all the power and flow needed to wash cars and effectively use a foam cannon but it is one I would advise anyone to avoid

It has this maddening period of hesitation when you pull the trigger

It takes several seconds to spool up to pressure and during that time your foam cannon is dribbling water and product like a slobbering cow

It is very annoying

I saw a youtube about this AFTER I thought I had done enough research

I have a slightly smaller Greenworks in Alaska that I believe is rated at 1900 psi and even running off our well it is enough to effectively detail cars and it doesn't have the hesitation

Not sure why they built the 2300 the way they did but avoid it

GPM is more important than PSI for foam cannons.

If looking inexpensive would look at the Activ Ve52. 1800psi with 2.0gpm.

If had to do again would tey to source a kranzle K1050.

I’m also intrigued by AR Blue Clean pro 675

I use the AR Blue Clean AR630. This is my first static pressure washer and I’m very pleased with its performance. It’s on the pricey side but in my opinion well worth it.

Yes, gallons per minute

Just remember that based on almost every piece of research I have seen, with a sub $500 electric machine you will probably NEVER reach the advertised GPM in normal use and rarely will a machine make the advertised pressure, although as pointed out, GPM is more important

The exception may be machines in the Kranzle, AR realm of quality and price but you are talking way north of $500 to reach that level

My machine is advertised as 2.3 GPM but when you get it and look at the specs in the manual it says "rated GPM is 1.2"

That's a heck of a difference

Just know going in that an electric machine that's not in that upper echelon like Kranzle is NOT going to perform as advertised

I haven't tested every machine and I am sure there are exceptions

OG did a comprehensive set of tests a couple of years back and I am not sure if they have been updated but they are a real eye opener

Thank you

Is GPM the same as flow rate?

Yes it is the same thing

I just went on the Kaercher website and that is the term they use and I would suspect others use it as well

I was just thinking this myself earlier this morning. We have a nice Kranzle at work. But it looks like the one Obsessed Garage sells, whom I wouldn't patronize if they were the last detail supply outlet on the planet.

I was wondering if there's something comparable, or even another seller to get it from... I don't often use my Ryobi but when I do it gets the job done.

Another though was getting something portable because I still have customers I travel to.

:whs:

Man, I am right there with you on that one...

To each his own but...

Oh dude.....

I'm physically repulsed with anything to do with him.

We have his wash buckets at work, and I'm going to spend my own money to replace them. I'm literally paying him to go away lol!

They were there before I started there, but oh man....

Does the K5 Karcher specs look ok for Foam Cannon?
I think the K2 spec is a bit low but some people use them.

I am going to get crucified for this but here goes

As far as I am concerned the advertised specs on any electric machine under $500 are essentially worthless because as far as I have seen personally and been able to see anecdotally you cannot count on ANY of those specs to be anywhere near accurate

I have had several Kaerchers in the past and none of them lived up to the specs but then neither do the other "non pro" machines

I went on youtube just now and found several videos of people successfully using both the K2 and K5 with garden variety foam cannons

I have always felt part of this equation is connected to the water pressure in the system you hook the machine up to

My electric machines in Alaska never seemed to suffer because I was on a well and my weltrol tank wasn't especially large but when I had the house painted the guy had a monster gas machine and it had trouble as my well pump cycled because it had a huge GPM requirement and it kept starving for water

I would think either of the machines you listed would give you ok performance as long as you use a 1.1 orifice in your cannon assuming your water system can feed the machine sufficiently

I would hate to steer you wrong and not knowing where you are or where you are planning to purchase your machine I hope you take everything I said with a grain of salt

It would be cool if you bought your machine somewhere that you could return it if it doesn't work with your foam cannon setup
