Hi guys,
I have bought a 32 ounce Presta Ultra Cutting Creme to polish my car. It was recommended by the sales parson as a good product and less expensive than 3M.
I would like to know if some of you have experience with it.
Also, I am lack of experience to select the right products yet. I mean I have done this job for a body shop using what the owner buys.
He only use compound and glaze, but I see there is something called polishing compound also. I would liker to know what is different between the rubbing compound and polishing compound ?? Is it necessary to do it 3 steps or only rubbing compound and glaze plus wax is enough ??
Thanks for all your help !!
Jorge.

Do someone can help me with this question, please ??
I am ready to spend my next $25 buying a glaze and need to be clear what to buy.
The compound I will use is the Presta after wet-sanding with a P-2000. I will use a 3M single side wool pad.
The car is a light green re-painted car with 3 layers of clear coat.
My local auto paint store wants to sell me a Presta Swirl remover to go next after the compound. They say Swirl removers are the same as Glaze. They also say that using these two products is enough to get a professional finish.
I already bought a 8" Meguiars Yellow Finshing foam pad to apply the Glaze.
Thanks for any input, I really need it. Ten years ago, I worked in a body shop where the owner used 3M compounds. I did some cars at that time with good results. I don't have any experience with Presta products but I needed to save some money. By the way, the Presta compound I bought is water based, and according to the seller, it is superior to the oil based products.

I'm guessing that you didn't work for a high end body shop. After using a compound, you must use a polish before waxing. Body shops use glazes because they will "cover up" the swirl marks left by the compound. To make things simple and easy for you, order Meguiars M105 Ultra-cut compound, Meguiars M205 Ultra-finishing polish and the wax of your choice. 3simple steps for a great finish.

Thanks for your answer.
You are right. I didn't work for a high end body shop. I learned something but not enough. Anyway, the Presta Ultra Cutting Creme is similar to the Meguiars M105. I mean, both are designed to remove the marks left by a 1200 grit or finer. Presta also makes an Ultra Polish that may do a similar job than the Meguiars M205. I will follow your advice with these two steps. In a quick google search, I found good reviews about Presta products but I don't say they could be as good as Meguiars.
What do you think about using the polish instead of the Swirl remover ??
Thanks

I have never used Presta but, if you've read good reviews, try it. Personally, I'd use a polish over a swirl remover. Also, use the right pads for the product. What are you trying to remove with the compound? I am a fan of using Surbuf pads with a compound, it leaves minimal swirl marks. Then, follow up with a Lake Country CCS green or white pad. IMO

It is a re-painted car that need to be polished. I will use 1500 or 2000 grits. So, the compound will have to remove those traces. I already bought a Meguiars 8" yellow foam buffing-polishing pad. I probably use it for compounding or may use a 3M wool pad.
For the polish, I need to buy a black foam pad or any other designed for it.
Thanks.
