Just wanted to share a quick preview of what i'm working on today using the Optima Steamer



 
aaaand done! (7 hours total) including interior and exterior steam detail, machine polish (2 step), fabric stain removal, steam clean engine bay + wheels and paint sealant application.

Where's my beer? :cheers:






 
Wait a second, you did two steps of machine polishing with a full interior steam detail, engine detail and sealant in 7 hours on that thing? You must be some kind of machine!

I did. I have a huge problem with stopping once I start so i started at 10am and didn't stop until 5pm except for the 15 minutes to post those first pics and eat something, and i was mad about that. I like to go non-stop when i'm working but the body needs food (we need to work on that)

Also, having the Optima Steamer is almost like cheating. I can blow thru the engine bay and the initial exterior wash in no time at all. I do take a long time on the interior but that's because i'm picky as hell and need it to be to the point where if it was my car i'd be happy getting in it plus once I'm done in there I'm done, I don't have to go over it again like I do exterior several times. The exterior i do a bit faster because I know I will be polishing so don't have to be too particular about not leaving wet marks and things like that the first time around.
The engine bay with this steamer is basically a joke. 5 maybe 6 minutes and done.
Oh and that big water stain that was on the back seat took 4 minutes to remove, i know this because I took a pic right before i started and another right after and that's what the time stamp on the pics said.
 
Steam cleaning the exterior on a dry dirty vehicle?? Doesn't that induce a ton of marring?? I understand before a polish that's fine but for maintenance washes do you still do that?? If so I'd like to hear your process.
 
You are seriously making dropping big bucks on an optima steamer a good idea for me.

That's where this machine is different than others, you can control the moisture/humidity level so on a visibly dirty car you turn it up so you have a more "wet" steam and so more lubrication for the microfiber towel.
Even with doing that I used about 7 gallon of water total on that entire SUV. Including the wheels (which for those I turned the moisture level all the way up so I was almost shooting hot water at them)
When I do maintenance cleaning on my own vehicle for example I use almost 100% dry steam, I shoot it with the steamer to loosen up the dirt and it pretty much all flies right off (it has a good amount of air pressure too), then i go back and hit it with the steam at a closer range as I follow it with the microfiber towel, a little spray wax after and done. On my Mercedes C250 coupe to do that process I use maybe 3 gallons of water tops (including interior)

I need to start doing video of it in action to give everyone a better idea of how exactly it operates. It's very neat and so far for me worth the investment. The biggest plus is that i can detail anywhere and never have any water runoff, so i don't leave a mess behind. 5 minutes after i'm done it's like I was never there (the 5 minutes is for the little bit of water that you'll see on the ground after I do the wheels with the humidity turned all the way up to evaporate)
