I'm a hobbiest who helps out friends and family but I don't do it for income.

Definitely hobbiest, or starting out to be one I guess, I still have A LOT to learn before I trust myself with someone elses rig.

Professional Hobbiest lol.

In all seriousness though, hobbiest.

My grandma paid me to wash her car once when I was like 10 years old.

Hobbiest, though people have paid me to detail their cars but I don't own a shop or anything, I just work out of my garage for fun teaching my friends how to properly care for their cars.

definitely a hobbyist, although i was thinking about doing some detailing on the side.....

Hobbiest, but I have done a couple of my neighbors' cars as well. I would like to do it on the side, but just need to get more organized as a "business". Maybe print some cards or something.

I'm definitely a hobbyist. The only vehicle I've ever done is my own and have no plans of ever doing anyone else's :)

Obsession and money hole. I guess it's a hobby for me then.

Hobbiest for sure,as slow as i am I'd starve if i had to do this for a living.

Professional hobbiest I'd say for myself. Have a dba but don't advertise myself like crazy, just local ads.

That's me.

I have had people see me obsessing over my car's finish and ask me if I will do their cars.

I tell them no, but that I will show them how to keep their cars in tip top shape. I have let people wash, correct, and wax their cars using my equipment and supplies. And in most cases they have been very happy with their new knowledge. No charge.

The people that were not real happy were the ones that just don't want to put any work into it. But at least I was able to show them the difference between paint that had actually been corrected and paint that had just been made pretty with fillers and glazes.

I'm a hobbiest and somehow get sucked into detailing every relative's car for free.
And of course a week later they take it to the car wash to show me how clean they're keeping it.

Hobbiest

I have a few friends cars that I work on for the practice of it. I would never let my cars get bad enough to use some of the products I own, maybe I own too much :)

Also they help me with the mechanical stuff so it lets me return the favor.

On a parting note I had a buddy in my car today who didn't really understand my detailing hobby until he touched the paint and said "Holy crap you can really tell the difference". For such a nice comment I didn't give him crap for touching paint :)

Hobbyist. I find detailing to be relaxing.:xyxthumbs:

Definately a hobbyist. Take care of my car and my wifes. Strictly therapy and I'm a little "anal" about cleanliness.

Paid hobbyist, I wont do more than 2 vehicles. I do correction and Opti Guard. Then apply Permanon when they come back. I get clients to go to a nearby touchless before they come to my house. I get $200 for an average vehicle. This is Mad Money to buy more detailing toys!
