Problem with the LC yellow pads.

Well I ordered 2 yellow pads for the PC, Lake Country Branded and set to work.

both orange pads I used were fine.....

After about 4 mins of using my yellow pads, they um flattened themselves. I dont know what happened.. I set to work with moderate to light pressure working in some XMT, and suddenly I had noticed an uneven movement from the PC and when I lifted it up, and the middle flattened I used my orange pads in the same manner, but they were completely unphased.

I hope the webcam shows the damage ok. I was trying to hover a screwdriver over the pad to as not push it down to see the damage.

Hi,

The only time I have seen that is when the backing plate gets Very hot and transfers heat to the pad which can cause the pad to go soft in the center...Have not seen it with a LC Yellow though..

Be careful not to cover the air vents on the head of the PC and use a high quality extension cord ( 12 gauge )

That's interesting, I had the opposite thing with the orange pads I got. They would get bulged out in the center.

Hehe, you must have not seen my car! lol Unfortunately for it, I have just recently within the last 6 months come into proper car care by our standards.

@Grimm. My Orange pads dont do that. there seems to be a small rise of foam that the backing plate sits on. It seems to add to the sturdiness of the foam.

@padron. I never block the heat vents... Learned that lesson once... I use a good cord.. Hmm... I will have to try my luck at some new pads.

Unfortunately my orange pads have done the same thing.....all of them. The heat is building up in the center of the pad and is literally softening and melting the center of the pad. Jason@Autogeek suggested that I may be applying too much pressure, so I hardly use any pressure now, which seems to help. Definitely get a better cord and just don't push as hard. Hope this helps.

Totally agree that is not normal. I think normal procedure is to go through whom you bought the pads from to get a replacement. If they will not help you contact the manufacture and also let the manufacture know who sold it to you and they are not standing behind their products. Life is too short to deal with crummy companies!

Also, you should be able to put 25 pounds of pressure on the PC with no issues so I doubt that its too much pressure.

Where did you get the pads from? I got a bad bunch from Top of the Line once, they called LC and LC recalled the whole pallet.
