So... been looking at some options for detailing. Aside from doing cars here and there, I would love to prospect to semi-truck dealerships and offer to clean up new inventory.

I'm curious about a few things as far as cleaning goes and products...

1) polished steel/aluminum grills with bugs on them. I know how to get rid of the bugs and clean up the aluminum... but would using a polish on the grill remove the oxidized/stained aluminum areas?

2) Rusted vertical exhaust stacks: So... I'm spraying polished aluminum, steel, back of the cab (with paint on it). Is there a paint friendly degreaser that also removes rust?

3) Best product to use on aluminum tanks?

Becareful to note the differences between uncoated, coated aluminum. Also note alot of new cars use plastic dipped in some metal covering thats more like aluminum paper.

I work for Kenworth as of now. I can differentiate which manufacturers use coated plastic and actual aluminum/chrome plating.

I know of aluminum polishes I can use, I can just curious what to use as prep work for polishing to get the bug stains out.

Duragloss offers #831 Metal Cleaner & Brightener but it's for high polished aluminum.

#831, Duragloss MCB (Metal Cleaner & Brightener)

Is formulated to clean high polished aluminum. It removes oxidation, dirt and road film while leaving aluminum surface clean & bright. Recommended for all types of highly polished aluminum surfaces such as gas tanks, wheels, diamond plate tool boxes, running boards, tankers, etc.

Then for aluminum that's not highly polished or clear coated they offer #860 Heavy Duty Aluminum Cleaner & Brightener.

#860, Duragloss HD Aluminum Cleaner & Brightner

Cleans dull and semi-dull aluminum without rubbing. Spray on wait 3 minutes, rinse. (Not for clear coated or highly polished aluminum)

I would contact them and ask their recommendation. The products are also available in bulk such as gallon, 5 gallon, 30 gallon, and 55 gallon drums. :)
