Alright, so this is my baby as many others on here are yours, and I'm doing what I can to keep it immaculate albeit a daily driver. I bought it in November and finally in March got to the paint correction to remove the swirls from the previous owner. I used the Megs DA MF kit with great results. I topped it with Gold Class Liquid Plus because that's what I had available and am only slightly satisfied. I wonder what will give my paint (candy apple red clear coat metallic) more depth and the drowning wet look.
Secondly, on my hood trim, the satin aluminum piece above grill, I have a few places that it looks like bug splatters were left to etch. Typical wash won't touch them nor have megs UP or Griots polish 3. The finish is a consistent smooth look and feel so I don't want to start too aggressive and leave it looking awful or marred. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Well for depth its gotta be a nuba, I have/like Fuzion and Black Fire midnight sun aeresol, both work great for that look your after. The Fuzion is available in mini size and a little goes a loooong way, so don't let the $50.00 price scare you off.

Love that color BTW!

Fuzion or midnight sun. I have both and both at great. What about a paint sealant as well

Thanks for the suggestions! Fuzion and Midnight Sun both look awesome. It seems like Fuzion is a consensus pick through all the forums. As far as sealant I've used Megs 21 for a while and found it to be a great and easy to use product. Actually having a Mirror Glaze store here locally has steered me to those products. (I'm one for instant gratification, what can I say)

For the look you are going for there are 2 main product I would reach for. And they are no waxes....

I would seriously consider either BFWD or 4* UPP...

BF gives the deep wet look and is a nice sealant.

4* UPP is probably one of if not the easiest sealant I have ever used and looks the most like a nuba wax.

anybody have an idea for the bug splatters on a trim piece like I described?

Don't know about the bug splatters, if its metal and not plastic made to look like metal, then try a dedicated metal polish.

If you are willing to spend more $'s, then I would suggest GTechniq C1+ topped with 2 layers of EXO.

I really like GTechniq products, but Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 or similar would be good too.

I wonder if some Goo-Gone or Goof-Off and some elbow grease would take care of it. Its always good to have Alien Kleen on hand, I have yet to defeat it!

The main think with a sealant is the "candy" look it gives the paint, the OP is looking for depth, sealants give clarity or "pop", although OP can I suggest you try some DG #111 and see if you like that? If you've gotta a CarQuest in the area you can walk right in and get it or if placing an order here, add it too your cart.

I hadn't even thought about goo gone since I removed the dumb ass dealer stickers on the back of my trunk door, I'll def give that a shot in the morning. I'm def going for more wet depth than pop and shine, the shine is what I've been getting with m21 and GC Plus. know that's a good otc liquid carnuba but I'm looking to get deeper! we do have CQuest here, I think I'll visit a location and see whats available. I'll prob get whatever I choose through ag though since I need the miracle towel on bogo anyways.

Well DG #101 gives a different finish, a bit more depth than clarity and its a sealant, might wanna try it out. DG products are pretty inexpensive as well. Whatever you use though, it will make that cranberry color look stunning!

I would recommend Fuzion as well, however, your red looks pretty darn good from your pics. I hate to tell you this, but the "pits" in the "aluminum trim" are likely permanent. It's probably plastic painted aluminum color. Once they start to pit, you can't "fix" it - only replace it. I would clay it with a small piece of clay, to remove any bonded contaminants.

Prep, Prep, Prep is important to get ur final look...

Fuzion on red...

Great responses from everybody! My fusion will be here this week. Sorry for the absence in response to your posts, been a crazy last month for me. I never want to be the guy that posts a question and never lets the forum know how it goes... neither goo gone or clay touched the etching and pits on the trim pieces, I'll just have to live with it. Looking forward to trying the fusion next weekend on top of a coat of the M21 sealant! I'll let you all see the results right after!
