PRODUCT REVIEW: RACE RAMPS FLATSTOPPERS TIRE SUPPORTS

DSC_0122_zpsrtbnsvut.jpg

Introduction:
With people storing their vehicles long term through the winter months or while they are away, the only way to prevent flat spots was to jack the vehicle up and place on four jack stands. This method works although takes up plenty of valuable time not to mention it isn’t exactly the safest method. With a set of Flatstoppers, storing your vehicle long term and preventing flat spots couldn’t be easier. Simply position them in place and drive the vehicle onto them. Fast, simple, easy.

Product Description:
Flatstoppers Tire Supports work by cradling the tires and distributing the weight of the vehicle over a larger area of each tire. Because Flatstoppers are curved to match the curve of the tires, the weight of the vehicle is not pressing against a flat floor. The weight is distributed over the Flatstoppers’ curved shape, and therefore the tires retain their shape.

Flatstoppers Tire Supports are lightweight, movable, and durable. They easily support the weight of any vehicle. Best of all, Flatstoppers do not slip and slide! They stay put while you slowly drive your vehicle onto and off of them.

Flatstoppers are made of a temperature resistant material that does not conduct heat or cold from the garage floor to the tires. Flatstoppers Tire Supports will not damage the floor or the tires in any way. In fact, Flatstoppers will keep your tires in the same shape you left them, even over long periods of storage.

Conclusion:

Flatstoppers Tire Supports

Great detailed review as always Mike. Definitely worth it if you will be keeping a car in storage or along those lines for a extended period time. I would agree a little pricey but for what they do for you in the long run and the quality they are well worth it in my opinion!

The price is crazy IMHO. I would just make the same thing out of wood for the specific tire size. None the less I still think the tire will be affected to some degree but much less than on a flat surface.

I was also thinking you could just make 4 small sand box's with ramps as the sand would shift to the size and shape of the tire and tread, or just 2 long troughs filled with sand or other (waterbed style or air mattress would work too)...

Thanks for the review and inspiration to make something simular.

Awesome Mike - definitely has some nice accessories, thanks for sharing!

Awesome review Mike. I would need 12 for all my garage queens. Might break the bank :(

Ouch. It is interesting that put a load rating on it.

Useful and cool product, thanks for reviewing. I like the video that goes directly into subject and the talk is very friendly so you don't need to be passing the scroll bar to find the content you're after: Press play, sit back and enjoy.

As always I come with crazy ideas, so this time would not be different...

Did they ever thought about 'mixing' both ramps you reviewed recently in a way we could raise the car '4 wheels', with the ease of the moveable ramp without dealing with expensive elevators?

4 ramps, one each wheel. Drive over, remove the ramp part to allow better access (like the first ramp reviewed), and you're done. Car is raised in a way it would make detailing lower parts much easier.

In fact it would not allow such comfortable access to full work underneath vehicle, intention here is only to raise car from the ground in a way detailing lower parts would be more comfortable for us.

Do you think it can work using 4 of the actual existing ramps?

Thank you very much in advance,

Kind Regards.

Summit has them for $80 less...

Even at that price it is way too much. Especially considering Race Ramps sells a set of 2 ramps that are larger than these for $100.... Why would they price Flatstoppers at such an insane point. SMH

Correction. The $80 less model is only 10" wide instead of 14". I guess some people would be happy about having an extra 4 inches for $80....

I thought modern tires were not prone to flat spots, and that myth has still been perpetuated from very old tires? Am I off on this?

Thanks Kyle!

While the flat stoppers look great, that black paint looks wet!

Thank you sir!!!

To each their own. I would rather pay the price for quality craftsmanship.

Ley us know if you get something together that works out.

Nice review Mike! thanks for sharing:)

Cool review Mike.

Thank you Marc.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback Raphael. Much appreciated.

For detailing needs and raising the vehicle. Although expensive I would rather buy a QuickJack.

I have had these for a few years purchased directly from Race Ramps at the time.

I also wanted the larger set to make sure my rea tires fit without issue.

I thought modern tires were not prone to flat spots, and that myth has still been perpetuated from very old tires? Am I off on this?

Yes, modern tires will still accumulate the dreaded flat spot if sitting in one place for to long.

I have put my car in "storage mode" for a military deployment and when I returned 7 months later my tires did in fact posses the flat spots.

I will go out on a limb and say this was a result of my excessive negative camber as more weight is placed on the inside tires. I would say that with an alignment with hardly any negative camber may not be subjected to that. However I have nothing to back up that theory.

Mike, you are fire with all of these reviews! Great info as always. Your paint looks slick as heck! :dblthumb2:

Love the idea of flat stoppers but can't justify the price. Even though my E93 sit for the winter, any flat spots that develop are minor and disappear after a day or two of spring driving.

Mike, your paint looks outstanding! What LSP is your car wearing?

At the moment just maintenance washes and spray wax sessions with the BlackFire Wet Diamond Waterless Wash and BlackFire Midnight Sun Carnauba Spray Wax.

BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash Kit

BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Spray Wax, spray car wax, aerosol wax

I have been busy lately and need to get a dedicated LSP on it.

Ummm, Mike, Air Force allow beards now?

On leave for 30 days sir. This beard is 3 weeks old.

Thanks Ian. Yes, I have been pumping out reviews since being on vacation. Hopefully I can keep it up even when I go back to work.

I know they are expensive. The only way I could justify them is if the car sits in one spot for 4 months minimum. But as you said the flat spots are beaten out after some time behind the wheel.
