What is the average shelf life of detailing products. I have some unopened polish compound/ coatings that I want to use but they have been sitting in a cabinet in the garage for about a year or two. No noticeable change in appearance, are they good to go or trash?

They are most likely just fine. Specialty stuff like coatings might have a shorter shelf life but waxes, polishes and detailers should go on and on.

I use stuff all the time that is thirty years old. I still have a few cans of Harly Wax that is straight wax with no polishing agents or cleaners in it and still use it. And several gallons of Blue Coral soap that still works. I generally give it to friends that come over and want to wash their cars and don't really care.

I agree. I use products that I've had for years. Just shake them really will and make sure that the liquids are not seperated. If they are shake them really hard and most will be just fine. If wax paste wax looks chunky you can often remelt it pour it back into the jar and it will be just fine.

Keep them climate controlled, shake them really good after use. They should be good to go!

Shake them really good after use? I always though they should be shaken well before use! Lol!

For all the money I spent on products they'd better last so my great grand kids could use them. LOL

The archeologist will dig up my stash in the 23rd century and they will be like "What was wrong with this guy? All this to clean a "car"?
