I got a goofy question.

As for the great many Professional Detailing outfits throughout the entire U.S. Especially in High Volume shops, what would probably be the most WIDELY used BRAND NAME of Professional Detailing products in all of these shops?

Thanks All!

Ray

high volume places typically use supplies such as ardex, gliptone, car bright, and i'm sure theres others.

There are probably tons more. Lol. Be careful when you use the term "proffessional" it doesnt always mean quality.

Why are you asking? Maybe we can help you some more.

Oh, it was just me seeking some random knowledge. I'm actually building up some product, to do more cars more often. And was buying a bunch of Meguiar's Detailers Line, and just wondering if Meguiar's detailers line is widely used at a lot of the professional shops.

Rather than using the term "professional," use the term "production." I feel it fits what you're asking a little better. And to answer your question for my APC, Degreaser, etc I use the brand "PRO" because I order 55 gallons at a time ;)

55 gallons is sooo much product, especially since I'm sure you can dilute that APC down to your desired level. With the size of your shop, how long does it take to go through 55 gallons of a concentrated APC or something similar?

'Trade' is the term we use. It used to be that such products were typically the more aggressive options out on the market. If there was a safe ingredient and a cheap one, they would be using the cheap one. We were talking about best bang for your buck, nothing else mattered. Unfortunately, with the boom in small brands, it started that certain brands actually bought the trade chemicals, poured them into their own bottles, put a new label and multiplied the price. Unfortunately this has become something of a trend and you will now find quite a few brands who are selling chemicals which are little different from the cheap trade offerings, as high end products. From out point of view, this is a bit of a shame because it does mean that many people are being (almost) conned into buying expensive products without actually getting anything special in the bottle. Sadly it is hard to know which brands are guilty because nobody will admit it and some of the worst offenders have some of the best marketing to rebuff any claims.

As a very simple demonstration, Mike is an advocate of using the least aggressive approach necessary to get the job done. The product type we are discussing is the product which will get the job done in the fastest time. IMO, this is not the sort of product which this forum community will really want to focus on, rather these products are intended for people who want as many cars through the doors as possible and have little expectation that the owners will be super picky.

I would bet for a "production" shop the Meguiar's Detailer line is too expensive. For my opinion of a "professional" shop that line would be right on par!!!!!!!! Great product and meant for higher volume shop without sacrificing quality!

These outfits are usually serviced by jobbers. And:
Depending on these outfits' locales: the "Brands"
of detailing products they offer may, can, or will
vary from one extent to another.

Buying in bulk is these outfits' mantra.
Price-per-unit is king.

Man, I definitely don't want to sacrifice quality in order make a few extra bucks. I'd rather use Megs Detailer line, and know I am giving my customers Quality products. I'd feel better about myself, and feel better about them and their car driving off knowing it was well done. Rather than enjoying the few extra bucks I'd make swindling them. I feel it would totally go against why I detail cars in the first place.

Thanks for sharing all of this guys. It opens my eyes up to stuff I never even knew about. I never want my friends or family to go to some of these "shops" ever again. Where they charge well into the $200's to get a job done, when I am charging them less and a better job.

The worst places my family's have taken their cars to have been the big brand dealerships where they bought their cars at. Honda, Toyota, Ford.

They have never been pleased coming home from these places, but that could just be my local my LOCAL dealerships in a local income town.

Not to worry:
Meguiar's Detailer Line-up is also sold in bulk sizes.
Very cost-effective...and without having to sacrifice
any part of your quality-products proviso. :props:

Some of the "production" products can yield some good results. Its more about what the customer wants. I personally want someone more educated on what they are getting so they can make an informed decision. I sell my techniques more than my products but I do mention that I use products that may cost me a little more and arent just fillers or shiners. You have to balance customers wants and needs and budget.

Very true Dcjredline, and thank you for saying that. That is something I will remember to keep in mind surely.

Peace out, and have a good one!

Thank you both greatly for sharing what you did. I am really excited about using the Megs Detailer line now.

And Dcjredline, that is so very true about the techniques and I will remember that!

Have a Great Christmas Guys!
