Hi guys, I consistently run into higher end cars who's owners live all over the states. I currently have a person in Palm Beach Gardens, FL who would like to have some quotes on Paint Correction. They are a MBWorld Forum member who saw my E63 AMG and would like to have something close to it paint wise. The Vehicle will be a Mercedes E55 AMG and I think Black. He will have some paint work done on the lower rockers and from bumper to rid the car of rock chips. Then he is ready pending price. He will ask me whatever quotes he gets A. is it fair B. should he do it C. What processes should he go with. Normal for an educated buyer, but would like to help him out. I recently helped out to Pros in the DC area with higher end vehicles so hope we can work something out for him.

Email me at [email protected] if you will with your information and I will past that to the person who will contact you. Looking sometime within the next month to do this.

Thanks guys, and here is a pick of my 63 with a Paint correction, and then my just purchased new 08' without one. Once he saw these he wants similar.
Paint corrected and coated one: 2007 E63 AMG

2008 E63 AMG NOT Corrected yet---

This one stinks of someone looking for perfection at a bottom-dollar price.
Since I am one of those who will speak what most others are thinking but do not want to say so, let me say anyone who wants to repair rock chips without even speaking of a possible re-spray seems uneducated and un-realistic. Rock chips, especially on a verticle panel, are not worth chasing, IMO. It sounds like the whole lower-sides of the car are peppered with them.
Bottom line, I get the vibe that he expects them gone when that's only going to happen with a re-spray.

Interested...sent you an email.

I'm in West Palm Beach which is close to Palm Beach Gardens.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post! And that does happen with clients so it's the detailer who clearly should go over the whole car with the client and tell them what to expect in the end. If you don't do that your doing yourself an injustice.

HOWEVER-----------
If you read the initial post, it was clearly said client was having rockers and other areas painted first, then wanted a pc done on the vehicle. I also said the customer will verify what's to be done and prices with me so he knows what is fair.

Hint-- I charge nothing less than $800 for just the Paint Correction part of the job, everything else is extra.

So if that concerns you so much that you would post something like you did, why not ask it in a question form so if someone was thinking like that it might help others out.

I posted this here due to Mike Phillips direction personally. It's all about taking care of the customer

It appears you write in broken-english, or are typing with your thumbs from a phone, and you assume you are being interpreted correctly. If I had known it was being re-painted, I would have never wrote what I did. You never stated he was having anything re-painted. I can see how you think you did, however.
Sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding.

Unless he changed it, I clearly see where it says the car WILL have paint done to fix those areas.

Yeah, "He will have paintwork done." That's really ambiguous, if you think about it. "He will have paint work done," maybe that's the work he wants from a detailer? Re-read the OP, and if you think it was clear, then you assumed too.

Youre a pretty skeptical guy aren't ya? He said as above, paint work done THEN he will be ready for correction quotes. Looks pretty black and white to me that he is separating the two jobs completely. Lol.

Plus they are asking you to come look at the car and give a quote so its not like they are trying to get u to quote over the internet then spring some rock chips on ya when u get there to do correction.

Lay back a little man geesh!

Lol, no. I'm sure there's plenty of them available tho.

It will usually come with age. Dunno how old u are but...

Do you have a pill that'll help me relax? I can't seem to do it on my own...

Find me someone who doesn't want to minimize cost and maximize results in this country and I will show you a pig born with wings. Even if it were a case of low balling, if they come to you it's not too much time wasted. And I also got that it was in fact paint repair, then a correction job.

On the pill comment, I know as a small business owner it is tough chasing the dollar. Toughest part of any small business and it wears on you, stringing you high and tight. But this place should be an place of peace and amiability. Detailing is my passion and not my job, and is MY best therapy (better than any pills or talk therapy the VA can provide).

Stay thirsty my friends.

Talk about high end! Lol.

How much per hour does $800 for Pc come out to?

Beautiful car btw.

Love all the back and forth. Was typing replies with a iPad so was slightly broken or auto corrected.

Not sure if you thought the 800 was high or low. A full paint correction for me will take minimum 20 hrs on the paint. Thats not counting if the customer wants wheel wells detailed, coatings, interior etc.... I have done plenty of write ups under show and shine showing quality and perfection of work. I take my time and everything is done to perfection. This is a hobby of course. Well a passion. I am keenly aware of typical higher end shops prices which are above mine for sure. I know the quality they produce. There are likely many guys on here who would do the same quality for $500 plus extras just to do the work. I would be doing this car myself if he were closer to me, traveling to do it just doesn't make sense in this case.

Thanks for the props on my car. The 07 first pic took me about 45hrs of time to get it back as close to perfect as poss. The second one (08) has had its wheel wells done and the wheels coated. They took about 1.25 hrs apiece.

Anyway, just to be clear----- client will have his car painted in the areas that need it to rid it of rock chips. Then immediately (within two weeks or so paint cures), he would like it corrected then coated with something. I have not gone over coatings with him at this point, due to different people like different things and didn't want to interfere with that part of the process. I just don't want him to spend $500 and not be happy, or pay 1300 and not be happy. He is aware that it will cost him for perfection, and there will be upkeep afterwards. Thats the type of customer you want. I have one person highly recommended who has contacted me. We are working on it, but still open for others.

Thanks guys for reading all this, I am just trying to get someone taken care of.

Two 60 hour wheels off , emblems off, Maserati details, both came out pristine with extremely few RIDs left over after the PC. First was coated with Modesta after the PC and the second with 22ple.

War does that to ya.

I've always thought about getting formal education for detailing/mechanics (I do everything short of electrical and hvac myself- well, and wheel balances/alignments too obv) and go into business for myself. I just couldnt stand to pervert the only thing i can lose myself in.
