I just got my stainless Roush axleback exhaust for my mustang in the mail. What is the best way to protect this from corossion/pitting? I know there is metal polish, but wondering if I would use a wax on it instead for better protection? Thoughts?

Many companies off metal sealants. I would look at some of these. BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Metal Sealant, aluminum sealant, metal protectant, chrome sealant, wheel sealant
Wolfgang MetallWerk™ Concours Metal Sealant protects and seals polished metal trailers, wheels, bumpers, trim. Metal wax, metal sealer, wolfgang metal
Sonus Aluminum and Chrome Sealant, metal sealant, wheel sealant
There are other metal polishes that also offer protection such as Collinite Metal Wax but the linked options are all just sealant with no polish (I think). Hope that helps and congrats on the new exhaust!

I have stainless Bassani on my cobra. Granted the car isn't a DD but the beauty of stainless is it doesn't deteriorate like aluminized mild steel. It sure does look purty all polished up though.

I put colly 845 on my exhaust tips and it keeps them nice and slick and easy to get clean. I polish them with megs mag polish then apply the 845

opti coat 2.0 . I just did my ss tips on my truck . hopefully no more winter road salt will eat them up anymore .

It's probably best to not use waxes on SS exhaust.

I go with Simichrome...Perhaps you could consider this also?

Stainless steal doesn't corrod too often. I have a ss exhaust on a dd which is 18 years old and never been protected. Still looks like the day I bought it. Now if you want something to make it shine or easier to clean. Metal polish and a metal sealant. Wax would not last due to heat and exposure to dirt.

Being that you are from the ATL - I would suggest just a simple cleaning when neccessary along with MARTA during inclement weather.

Nice. I am going to try 845 on my exhaust tomorrow. I've been using the stuff for a while just never put anything on exhaust tips before. Hope it will help with cleanup.

I have a stainless steel SLP Loudmouth catback exhaust system on my Mustang and Meguiar's Nxt Metal Polysh has kept it looking new for eight years. The product has been discontinued, but Autogeek still has some in stock.

I believe it contains some corrosion inhibitors and protectants and I have had good luck with it on bare aluminum polished wheels which is a better indicator of whether or not it leaves some protection on the metal. When I run out, I plan to use Meguiar's 93 Marine Polish. It's advertised as having corrosion inhibitors, too.

You might also consider drill a hole in them, the Roush axleback is prone to get water stuck in them.
