Protein stain

I know megs has their stain remover but what is everybody using to get protein type stains out of upholstery?

Start with an enzyme type digester (I believe Megs falls into this category). If that fails, then move to a combination of enzyme and oxygen (like peroxide). If that fails, then try an oxidizer of some kind, like an APC or just peroxide.

Enzymes take time to work.

-Most liquid laundry detergents contain enzymes
that like eating passels of proteins.

•Make sure to never use hot water:
-Heat will "cook" the proteins

I would favour the laundry powder as these will be used to targeting this kind of stain. Proteins mean that you need proteases and I would not be confident that an auto specific product would have a lot of this (I would have expected more in the way of lipases/amylases). As above, don't do it too hot but a bit of warmth is good. If it is a tough stain, treat it and then cover the area with a black plastic bin liner and leave it. The bin liner will ensure that things are kept nice and warm and moist, which are the best conditions for biologicals to work (biologicals are distinct to, but include enzymes. A good biological will have living biologicals which will produce enzymes but will also have neat enzymes to as to speed up the process).
