PTG - How to check for Bondo or Body Filler

I was doing some testing on the fresh paint on the hood of a 1949 Chevy 5-Window Pickup Streetrod and here's what I found...

In the front part of the hood the paint thickness is all over the place. There is likely some repair work here and body filler under the paint.

When I checked the paint thickness closer to the windshield the paint thickness became more uniform in thickness...

Mike,

I read, what is a record to me, 44 mils on the AMX!!

When I used to buy and sell classic cars we always took a weak refridg. magnet and see where it stuck and where it fell. Then they came up with "ALL METAL" filler and it ruined that theory.
