Has anyone had any experience with the Purple Power (Clean Rite) brand of car care products? My local Autozone has the car wash soap, tire and wheel cleaner, prime shine quick detailer, prime shine spray wax, and the prime shine tire spray all in the gallon jugs for a good price. Their degreaser is pretty good but I didnt know they made car care products.

Hi Ted,

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!

Most of us have at one time or another used the Purple Power product you mention and with decent results.

Personally, I have no other experience with Clean Rite car care products. If I were to strictly use over the counter car care products from Autozone or any other local source I'd choose Meguiar's and or Mothers...

I've only ever used the Degreaser, I cut it 25/75 with a carwash/water solution in my foam gun to cut the pH level down to as close to neutral as possible, works great on wheels though, but like BobbyG said I would personally just stick with Megs or Mothers if you want OTC products. There's no harm in just trying it out, trial and error is the best way to learn.

I use PP degreaser. Mainly for rubber mats. If there's heavy gunk in the cup holders spray a little in there. I don't have a whole lot of experience with it but I know there's a few things you shouldn't use it on like paint and rims.

I use the Zep brand purple degreaser, I picked up a gallon of it from Home Depot.

I diluted it to the "weakest" listed on the label, and I use it to clean tires. Spray it on, let is sit about a minute or so, then scrub away. It works great for me, doesn't take a lot, and gives you nice, clean, bare rubber to apply your coating to.

I'm sure there are other uses for it, but I haven't experimented much. I would shy away from interior use, but it should work great on an engine bay, and possibly wheel wells.

(For the record, I do by best to keep it off of wheels and paint. I don't think a bit would hurt it, but why take the chance? For really dirty wheels I like diluted Simple Green, for relatively clean wheels I'll use a car wash soap)
