Question about buffer

I've got a 10" Craftsman Orbital Buffer that I got from my parents last year. I haven't used it yet but was thinking about using it to polish and clean up the cars. Is this something that will work well and if so, what should I put on it to get swirls out and buff the car? It came with 3 terry-cloth, 3 applicator, and 1 polishing bonnet...are these going to be suffecent enough? Thanks.

If so, it looks like its maximum speed is 2800 OPM (orbits per minute), where the PC tops out at around 6000. Add in the fact that it's using 10" bonnets and it will be quite limited. In other words, there's no way it will be close to a PC, a UDM or other buffers usually seen being used at AG. That said, I suspect it will do a better job than hand polishing. I'd try and stick with polishes that break down really easy like the XMT line-up.

Ok thats what I was looking for. I guess I'll have to stick with the bonnents and pads that it came with...unless I can find 10" pads somewhere. Thanks for the advice on the XMT line.

those 10 inch buffers are really only designed for wax application and removal. Not enough speed (orbits) to work with paint cleansers and polishes properly.
