I just purchased some GTechniq EXOv2 and am wondering if using a QD that offers some protection (such as UWW+), will reduce the hydrophobic qualities of the paint coating.

I love the way the product repels water and would hate to inhibit that.

Per the Gtechniq website:

EXOv2 can be over coated with other products but please note that if done you will get the surface performance of this product rather than those of EXOv2

If you use it before EXO application, you will reduce the bonding potential of EXO. You can wash with UWW+, but you'll want to make sure to strip every layer of wax/sealant and use Panel Wipe before.

I suspect using it as a means of keeping your car clean after EXOv2 application is going to have minimal impact on the performance of EXOv2 since it's not like you're layering a true wax or sealant.

UWW+ is actually a waterless wash and does not change the beading or sheeting of EXOv2. Other QD that are more "waxy" might change the sheeting, but will quickly wear off.

I would leave the EXOv2 alone. The hydrophobic qualities are simply off the charts.

Thanks for the response, I plan on using it just to keep the car clean when washing isn't an option.

Thanks for the response, although it is technically a waterless wash in my experience UWW+ makes a great QD. I plan on leaving the exo alone, I just am looking for a way to clean dust and mild dirt off the car

I think when topping coatings its best to stay within the family of products if possible. For example, reload is a great topper for CQ.

DPs detail spray is a good topper for the DP coating product. Can't speak to GT.

This can be an issue because diminishing the great advantages that coatings provide by topping them is counter productive.

Hopefully we get more discussion on this as coatings are fast becoming the new norm.
