I bought some P21S Polishing Soap to use as a polish/protectant on my F-150 chrome bumpers. However, I am getting the impression that P21 is more for chrome that is in rough shape. My chrome bumpers are in perfect shape and don't want to scratch them with the P21S. I do have some minor water spotting from the dealer, but that is it.

So am I alright to use this on chrome in perfect shape or no?

I use the polishing soap on my tailpipes mostly and haven't noticed any scratching. If your Chrome is immaculate you are probably better off using a dedicated metal sealant to avoid any potential harm. P21 soap is awesome though.

Same thing on my end .

Well using it on tail pipes is completely different as they see a lot more wear and tear than my chrome bumpers will....I don't want to risk using the polishing soap on them and scratching them. Tough to try a test spot too because there isn't a good area that is hidden to try it on.

Personally I wouldn't use it. I scratched a bunch of chrome on my Harley when I first used it. Might have been poor technique on my end but this stuff is certainly more aggressive then you need.

If your chrome is already in good shape I would just clean it up and throw a layer of wax or sealant on there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you need a specific metal polish at this time.

Might wanna take a look at Mothers Chrome Polish, it's great stuff. You can clean with APC, wipe clean w/some H20, and then use the polish/buff off.

So it sounds to me like pretty much any chrome polish out there is really meant for chrome that is not in good shape. Seems odd that there is no product that is like the equivalent of Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion (for auto paint) for chrome.

Should I just return this P21S and just keep the Collinite 850 I bought?

Sounds like the P21S won't get used.

I'd disagree...the product I suggested above can be used for chrome in any shape--including new.

Alright well maybe I will pick some up. Anyone have any idea if Collinite 850 can be used on brand new chrome?

Sure, it's a wax for chrome. My favorite for chrome is Blackfire Metal Sealant. Use it twice a year and clean up brake dust with just soap and water.

Thanks...I think I will just return the P21S then.
