Quick question. I have about 10 - 12 small, shallow dents in my hood from falling acorns. Here's a pic to show you what they look like:

The pic makes it look deeper than it is, and you don't really notice them unless you're standing at the right angle. From this pic, you can't really tell there's anything there:

My question is, do you have to go to a PDR guy to get good results? Do the do-it-yourself kits like Ding King and Pops A Dent work, or are they just a bunch of hype? Since the dents are small, I don't want to spend a lot of money to fix them, but I would like them gone. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Go to a PDR tech. You won't fix those w/o using the proper tools & experience. It's not that expensive.

a good PDR tech will take them out. i had about 6 tiny SHARP dings on the door on a car i bought previously. i used to think PDR was voodoo and was pretty skeptical. after he removed all the dings i'm a total believer

Any idea on what it costs to get small dents removed?

They usually have a base fee. I've been quoted $75 to $100. It will depend on the panel for a couple in the door.

I have one and they wanted $75. I questioned if it was $75 per dent and basically got to no they just want a base fee to do any work.

I only had two small ones in different areas. I decided to just live with them while I drive the car and go back if I ever get a couple more.

Check with the auto dealers. Here in Charlotte, they tend to use some of the same companies which are mobile and show up at different dealerships on different days of the week.

How I accidently stumbled upon somebody. While at the dealership picking up parts and saw them working in the back.

If you find the right guy, they'll probably charge less to do it off the dealer's lot. It was $100 if I did the work through the dealer & $75 if I just met with them and dealt directly with them.

The cost also greatly varies based on your location too. For instance, I have a bunch of door dings and was quoted $250+ at a few places in CT but got quotes of around $100 in socal. Pretty amazing in terms of price differences, and a good thing I waited!
