Hello Mike
My wife's best friend's husband is a Deputy Sheriff and he has his own police cruiser that he brings home each and every day; the cruiser is a black 2006 Chevy Impala. The inmates have been the caretakers of the cruisers, if the duputys don't want to clean the cars themselves and you know as well as I that the paint has taken a SERIOUS beating. The cruiser sits out in the sun 24/7 and in the winter it's in road salt and salt brine too...NEVER garaged, even when he is off-duty, the cruiser HAS to be in the driveway; they're not allowed to park the car in the garage.
I told him I want to try some new stuff on the cruiser. I am going to polish the car, but I'm not going all out and cut the clearcoat a lot because this car needs all the protection it can get; therefore, I was just going to spot cut with a cut pad/wool pad and a Makita 9227 (if needed) and use a yellow foam cut pad on the rest, maybe even a green polish pad...and my Griots 6" polisher.
I would think a sealant would work best in this situation...but I certainly won't be able to let the sealant cure overnight like some of the sealants require. I would like to do a topcoat of a quality carnuba...so when he's driving the jet black paint looks great; therefore, I was thinking Pinnacle Souveran.
What would you recommend for the protection layer, a sealant, I would think but which would you use based on this particular application and time restraint?
Thank you
Brian
