Questions about BMW Z4 Detail

I recently purchased the GG polisher and the Megs DA MF System. After doing both my parents Acura's there are tons of people wanting me to detail their cars. Today I went to estimate a BMW Z4 thats black. The car is in amazing condition and there was not a grain of dirt in the car! The guy wants a wash, wax and interior detail but doesn't want any products used on his dash or seats. For the interior I said I would vaccuum it and wipe it down with a microfiber and he said its fine as long as no fibers are left on the dash. I told him I could do a hand or machine wax and he said he really has never seen a purpose to touch a machine to his car. I was thinking about doing the finish wax from the DA MF system with my GG polisher but he didn't want that. What would you recommend? I have the whole megs line available in retail stores. I brought up claying and he didnt see a purpose either. I told him after I wash the car I can better see if there are toxins in the paint. I quoted him $100 for it and he said if I do a good job, he has 3 more BMW's for me to do. Suggestions please!!!

Sounds like he doesn't have much expertise in detailing but for some reason is very picky. I would recommend doing exactly what he wants you. You could show him the plastic bag trick to show him if there are any contaminates in the paint. And also, show him any flaws in his paint using a swirl finder light. He may see things that he was convinced were not there.

As far as the dash and seats go, do exactly what he wants. Dust them with a soft brush attachment from the vac, and pick up anything left behind with a MF. Tell him that you have products to help preserve the interior, and that you would recommend them to be applied for preservation reasons. His car may be flawless now, but without protection from the elements (sun, hand oils, dirt) his dash and seats may begin to show signs of wear down the road. It is cheaper and easier to preserve the factory finish than to repair it down the road.

For the exterior, he seems to be the old school type that thinks all machines are rotaries and instill swirls and holograms. He will be difficult to convince otherwise so you will probably be best off just doing a hand application of wax after a thorough wash.

If you want to work on the paint it sounds like you're going to need to gently educate him a little in two ways,

1. Demonstrate that you know what you're talking about and are proficient in machine polishing.

2. Somehow find a way to show him the current condition of his paint and what the potential appearance could be if he lets you work your magic on it.

Swirl Finder Light, Overhead bright sunshine, before and after pictures of your work, are all strong visual ways to show him what you're talking about.


In essence, you need to earn his trust...

Thanks for the help! What would you recommend for a wax in the Megs line? I brought my moms Acura along and when he went out and saw it he said "holy #### does that shine!". After that he told me he will have more work for me if I do a good job on his Z4.
