I recently purchased a night blue vw golf Alltrack. It's going to get a lot of use with work, road trips, and eventually kid duty. While I want the car to be perfect, it's a daily driver. I was thinking of using essence topped with megs ultimate wax, as I have a lot of uw and I just like it. Questions are:

how well does essence fill? I realize frequent polishing isn't good in the long run, so what about Essence on a very light polishing pad to do more filling than cutting? Any other pad suggestions are welcome

has anyone played with sealants over essence? I've seen a few favorable reviews on this approach but I'd love to hear from you.

Any ither her suggestions are appreciated!!

I personally wouldn't use Essence unless you plan to use a coating. I'd grab a good AIO, such as HD Speed and top it with what you have. If it was mine, I'd use Poxy on top of Speed.

Thanks for the insight. Keep it coming. By the way. This is a new car.

You should be fine with Essence followed up with Reload or another spray sealant.

Actually...forgot I have some megs fast finish. This might be an excellent topper.

im really liking megs fast finish, sheds water great, and super easy to apply

Essence and Reload would be a good combo for your new ride. Would take more time and money, but Essence and CQuartz would be a better option. If you top with Reload every few weeks, your coating could last for years.

If you do this, please let us know how it goes! Pictures would be lovely. I've got a (4 mos old?) new car coming up late this month, and really wanted to try Meg's Fast Finish on it after being at Meguiar's in Irvine. Would love to hear others' experiences in the meantime.

Oh, and, enjoy your new ride!

Cruz, how are you seeing it perform over time? Application seems almost too easy. Looking forward to hearing on this.

Most new cars have swirls and marring. I would do a decon with Iron-X, then clay, wash, and then go with Essence to remove any minor defects and follow with a coating (McKees is inexpensive) and maintain the beauty with CarPro ECHO2.

I topped Essence with wgdgps and my white truck really shines. It has been about 2 months and is holding up well so far.

If its new go with the gloss pad.Not new depends on the condition a microfiber may be need then carpro essence then reload.if it was my car 205 then essence then a coating.Boyd's tru coat is indestructibly a great product vs cq.

Well, there's something that's been kept a secret! I'm sure it's because I haven't been paying attention, but I didn't even realize Boyd's line had a coating:

Boyd Coddington Tru-Coat Ceramic Coating

You really consider this better than CQuartz? That's saying a lot because I'd venture that CQ is probably the most popular coating out there...although maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Essence does play nice with sealants such as Ultimate Wax.. As far as using Essence topped with Reload, if you do that just make sure to top with Reload about every 7-10 days because it's longevity in regards to protection is really short.

Or you could mix up some Ech2o + Reload and frequently use that as a waterless wash to maintain your vehicle clean after laying down your base of Ultimate Wax.

Here's a test I've been doing

You are not giving Reload much credit for being a spray sealant (7-10 days). After all it's a sealant and not a QD.

Hey after 30 days of standalone Reload lsp my paint felt like straight sandpaper. That leads me to believe that 1 have better stay on top of re applying it frequently if any sort of real protection is sought after. I've also seen the beading significantly diminish after just 1 bucket wash pretty much every time. It's a nice looking finish the day of... But I wouldn't trust it farther than I could throw it.

I'd easily say something like Megs D156 beats Reload in longevity/protection. And I'm not all that crazy about D156 but at least it's good for a solid 2 maybe 4 weeks standalone.

I use both straight undiluted.
